I have recently bought a pair of front shocks.

I have a 89' 325i.

They are yellow Bilstein.

The part number on them is:- 31 32-1129 240 2

Another number on them is 5490248W01

My questions are are they suitable for my car?
And what model did they come from originally?

I've had a search on here and not found as answer so hopefully someone can help.

i've just been on the bilstein web site and done a part number search on both of your numbers supplied and it has no search matches.
these may be discontinued now (not 100% sure) and your best hope is someone has the same part as yours and they brought them new, they might know what else is compatible to use.
