Hi Guys,

How do you remove the back seats from an '93 318i Cab? I've tried a few things like tugging - but not too hard!!! Is there a lever or pulley or something because when I start tugging it doesn't feel like they slot in/out and I don't want to break anything!! Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

not sure if they're the same as the coupe, if they are, grab the bottom section at the lower front and pull upwards, it should clik out of its retaining clips, then slide it toward you.

the back section has 2 bolts, 1 either side, bottom left and right, that holds it to the car body. undo these, and from the bottom of the back section push UPWARDS (not towards you)...because there are 2 slots behind the seats on the car body (that hooks from the back of the seat) drop into.

if they aren't the same as a coupe then plz ignore me. :D

Yeah if it's an E30 there are two grippers at the front botom of lower part of seat.
If you slide your hand under one end near the door and slowly move to centre until your hand stops,
you should be able to yank it upwards suddenly and release it.
Then do the same for opposite side.
You should now be able to lift the seat base out.
At the bottom of the back part there should be two 10mm bolts holding bottom part to wheel arch areas.
Undo these and then slide all upwards about an inch and a half and it should release.

to take out the part your bum sits on, you need to pull UP towards the roof, and then slide out.

I had to do this yesterday...to get access for cable installations and pulling out the side cards for repairing a dodgy seat belt retractor.

On the E30 there are spring loaded grippers at the front bottom of lower part of seat about 150mm in from the rear panel cards.

If you slide your hands under the seat and pull upwards, the seat base should pop off the spring loaded holder....do this both sides...the seat base will then pull out from under the backrest...for easy removal.

At the bottom of the seat back there are two 10mm bolts which attchach the seat base to the wheel arch areas.

Undo these and then slide all upwards about 40mm....it should then be easy to pull the seat back out too.

Hope this helps

Thanks guys, got the seats off with no problems by following your instructions! Gave the leathers a good clean whilst they were off....well chuffed. Thanks!!
