Thats what puts me of these cars.....

"Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth."
Ah, so on the upside, they are quite heavily modified. On the downside... they are quite heavily modified from standard.Jesus325iTouring wrote:A cylinder head
Take it the parts aren't especially easy to get hold of?
Whats the handling like? Is the suspension modified greatly?

Almost all the parts are still to be had from Alpina germany but you pay for the privilege

lol back on topic IIRC they have 210 bhp and 0-60 a couple of tenths of a second quicker than a 325. also came with 16" alpinas, most of them came with the sexy front spoiler and some with the stripes along the side.
Great car but crap on economy. Parts are really hard to find and really expensive, but the car drives like nothing else on the road. Any Alpina owner will tell you about their reluctance to sell even though they are usually "the other car".
Decide why you want it first then dont think just buy one
It will leave you with a constant grin on your face!

a good one is still a fantastic car to drive but there are very few good ones left most are sad old heaps that will need many thousands spending to get them right. A really well built 2.7 in a first class 325 shell will be a better bet and a better car in most cases.

they are much quicker than a 325i in any gear at any speed really. They are not thirsty?!snoops wrote:lol back on topic IIRC they have 210 bhp and 0-60 a couple of tenths of a second quicker than a 325. also came with 16" alpinas, most of them came with the sexy front spoiler and some with the stripes along the side.

Well - to be honest it's continuation fo the e30 idea...._Slyder_ wrote:Decide why you want it first then dont think just buy oneIt will leave you with a constant grin on your face!
I was thinking of an e36 328 coupe. Even in standard form they're quite quick, handle well and offer decent practicality. However, I'd prefer something that felt a little more special, a little more individual. That's what prompted me to look at e30's again. They'd probably be rather more work than an e36 to keep going, but they're that little bit different. Looking at an Alpina just continues that trend to be honest - it's a little bit more personal, something that feels like my rather than a car if that makes sense (much like modding does I suppose, but that's not really my thing) Would also enjoy having a few more bhp to play with and a few suspension tweaks.
Obviously don't see many Alpinas around and the ones I've seen (barring the occasional e36 V8!) haven't gone for that much more than the equivilant 3 series and less than a decent M-car.
The Alpina cars are well worth owning especially when all badged up and with spoilers.
Alot of people still appreciate them and they do stand out.
Performance is much better than a standard 2.5.
With some subtle mods they really fly.
