will be making a tyre choice for my sport soon. keep hearing toyo proxes mentioned and all seems good but id like an opinion from someone running them.the car will be used not pampered (well kinda pampered but still used

) but i wont rely on it for every day driving.
found them offered for £48 each delivered, sound good?

Toyo T1R in 195/50 r15 on my touring, good enough for nurburg ring and 6500 miles of eastern european road!
good grip, good wear. Paid £36 each for min iirc, but they are smaller sized

I had 205/55/15 toyo t1r's on my bbs on the 'is. I found while the grip was excellent the sidewalls were a bit fluffy and didnt exactly inspire confidence but I guess anything with a large sidewall is the same. I'd be inclined to go for 195/50 or 205/50. I had 205/50/16's on my hartge's and found these were much better for handling and useability.
I've got 225/45/16 on the M3 and these really do inspire confidence.
thats my 2p anyway.
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

What specfic brand can anyone recommended for the factory 15" in 205/55/15 or anything else that fits the rims (definately don't want a smaller rolling diameter though)? There seems to be a lack of good quality tyres to choose from in this size!
i have conti premium contact 2 at the moment which are excellent but there may be better ones around that are woth a try!

Don't know how true it is, but I've heard that both Goodyear and Dunlop aren't going to be making 205/55x15's soon. If it's true then most of the other major manufacturers will probably follow suit. I really don't want to, but I may have to consider going to 16's.
Back OT, if it's of any interest, I'm running Lassa Impteus II on mine. They're made by Bridgestone. They seem fine, but I don't drive as hard as some people on here. I haven't had any dramas in the wet in nearly 30k miles. I'm considering the Toyo's when mine need replacing too.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

In 205/55/15, I've got Goodyear NCT5s, which are a bit too hard but OK - they are on the front and I don't get understeer. The rears have Uniroyal Rallyes on - same story really; the back goes before the front, but that'll be the E30 rather than the tyres.
If you put me on the spot I'd say Uniroyal - mytyres do a Rallye 550 for 61 GBP; Uniroyal are not fashionable though, but then, neither am I.

i'm using proxies the earlier t1-s with 205/50 tyres impressed so far, wet or dry. They were on offer on camskill for £38 each!

that's a good price!
i've used uniroyals before and though as you say they're not fashionable, they're good! very predectable and wear well too.

I got toyo proxies on the sport and the grip is brillant, was out in the rain yesterday and felt very confident with the tyres.

what else does everyone else use on 15" BBS's? They seem to be pretty common in the UK.
The Toyo's sound good as wet weather perfomance is just as important as dry performance even though we are in a 100 year drought in NSW. They sound much like my current coninental premium contact 2 which when new were unbelievable in the wet aslong as you were easy on the clutch you could drive at WOT in 1st.
On my current list for consideration is
TOYO PROXES T1R
CONTI PC2

Dunlop Sport SP9000 in 205/55/15 on my BBS.
Great tyre in dry and probably better in the wet than most.

I use BFGoodrich profiler z's on mine and i would say they are really good in the dry and wet. Mine are 205/55/r15 and i think they are fine. The car had avons on it when i got it and they were kinda scary! Tempted in trying toyos next time though as they are like half the price if i go for a lower profile!

I have just agreed a deal on 2 new Toyo Proxes TR1 in 225/50/15 for 70 quid.
Probably a bit too wide for a 15" BBS so don't know if theyll be fitted.

I've got 205/50 15 in my 15inch BBS - very happy with them. Grip levels are great and seem (as I guess any quality tyre would be) very progressive at losing and regaining traction.
Can't say too much about wet performance but it's not *bad* certainly compared to my old Yokos.
All in all I'm happy and I paid about the same price as you. I think mine were from camskill.

i think the lower profile you go with the toyo's the better they become.. they have softer sidewalls from the feel of them which you notice esp when new with shit loads of tread

I had 225/35/18 T1-R's on my old car and couldnt fault them, wet or dry they gripped very well and lasted ages.

if goodyear still made their F1 gsd 3's in this 205/55 or 205/50 i'd say these as they are better than the proxies
the bbs wheel is an old, odd size tyre now so this limits us alot as to whats out there as not all of the top tyre makers cater for this rim anymore

so on average most people rate the toyo`s. thing is now the profile seems to be under debate, how do the cars look running 205/50/15 as some cars just look odd when you mess with the profile on standard rims. ill be running standard sport suspension (tech2) which will help a little i guess.

I have 225/40/18 Toyo TI R's on the Golf and they seem to grip really well again as mentioned very low sidewall (avoid the feckin kerbs)is preached at er indoors when she goes anywhere.
Plain old boring P6000 Pirrelli's on the 15" BBS on my iS they came on the wheels so will probably find something grippier when the time comes but I drive it like a fanny most of the time!

50's look ok on a heavy drop only imo.

I have P6000's on my car at the moment,.. They suck!
Today is the first time I've used them in the wet. Was trundling down a long dead straight road, gave it a tiny bit of welly in 2nd gear and it span them up!

Agreed Munky they are probably shit but my car is not a daily driver so does not see much rain and does not really get ragged that much so when they are fooked I will go with something like Continental/Toyo.
Cheers Frenchmeister.

These ones came with some wheels, I was going to keep them as I had always thought pirelli's were good but these ones will be getting destroyed at my next drift day and replaced with parada spec 2's.

Uniroyal Rainsports. grip the same as toyo's in the dry, and are feckin awesome in wet weather. will deffo be getting them after my toyo's have run their course.

and cheaper than toyos too :0
