Try to keep both of your tyres on the same surface type.jamlid wrote:How does the advice here differ for those of us not blessed with an LSD? Last year I parked the e30 up and didn't use it at all through the snow. I live at the highest point of Sheffield, so getting anywhere involves going up or down bloody steep hills!

LSD means more traction, so without one you're more likely to get yourself stuck when setting off/going uphill. It's just harder to get the power down.
I've never driven an E30 with an LSD but my previous Jeep had one and it was Godly in snow, even in 2WD, as long as the tyres were right of course. The current Jeep doesn't have one, but is on exactly the same type of tyres so I'll probably be doing some decent back to back comparison by the end of the winter!

On winter tyres I'd imagine? IMO They make the biggest single difference.Grrrmachine wrote:Dunno what you tarts are whining about. I've thundered up and down the Polish mountains in the snow with an open diff.

Same. It's fun for a few days at most, sledging and doing silly shit on country lanes, but for the following weeks when its packed down to sheet ice and everyone is driving at single digit speeds it gets old pretty fast.pony wrote:I hope there is no snow
