If anyone on here is using the brembo 4 pot calipers and 312mm discs,

I would like to know what wheels you are using that are more or less a straight fit, without using massive spacers...

Cheers

No desirable E30 wheel would clear that setup without spacers.

I don't mind putting "non desirable E30 wheels" on my chariot.

wheels are just wheels to me

Well a set of team dynamics 1.2's ET15 should (cant guarantee) clear them!

Im running a 7j front with an effective ET15 and they clear a 330mm AP kit.

Hi demlotcrew, nice brakes! That's the picture I sent you!
When you say that team dynamics wheel will likely fit, do you mean without spacers? I was reading that a lot of wheels require 10mm-15mm spacers, and that's not really a great option with 8J wheels.

Also, in the lower picture, that disc is an e38 disc redrilled. Why do people seem to go for the audi tt disc which seems like more work?

Thanks and sorry for all the questions! aaa

There's a lot that goes in to figuring out what brakes clear under what wheels. It all comes down to the front spoke design, some 8j wheels will clear easily, all depends on the design.

E38 brembo calipers are big barstewards !!!

not sure if this is helping, but I fitted some to an E28 last year running 16" hartge wheels they worked well without spacers, but then i guess it's all about the ET?

There is no way thats an E38 disk, the centre bore is too small.

E28 has an inboard disk face design, it will easily accept a fixed four pot calliper and still clear any wheel.

Your right on both accounts, they are chunky feks
and it's all about the et

and also like andrew said,

the spoke design, the spokes ideally should be near enough on the face of the wheel, so they have a better chance of clearing the calliper

Hmm I wander what that disc is off then.

Can the decision of whether a wheel will clear or not be judged solely on ET, or is the spoke design the main factor?

Hi Craig are those brembos off an e38? As most of the e38 brembos I've seen don't seem to have brembo written on them, which is a bit upsetting!

Yeah they are the E38 callipers (the brembo lettering is a sticker  )

I was thinking of something along the lines of these...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310378221469? ... _500wt_901

with an et of 15 and the spokes are right on the face, so that should clear the callipers......?

but, will they for overall, with them being 16" :?:

really need to hear from people using this brake set up to find out what's what

A lot of new (eBay etc) "Brembo" or "big red" calipers are coming in from China, they like the Brembo so much they started making their own copies - bless their unregulated cotton socks!

I expect they are mainly copying Porsche Brembos though as they are more common s/h.

EDIT - Secondhand BMW Brembos are less likely to be an issue.

Craig,
On my old E38 setup with 302mm disks, I ran a 30mm spacer so the wheels remained inside the wheel arch and cleared the caliper.
I could've probably gotten away with just using a 25mm spacer though

IIRC the the wheel was a 7"x 16" ET15.
I'd need to double check the ET just to be sure though.

Nice1 Dave,

the wheels I was using were the 17"x7.5 E36 Motorsport knock off's,
and they were et20, which left about half a mm clearance between the caliper and the spokes,
so i stuck on a 5mm spacer just for peace of mind, and the wheels still sat inside the wings with room to spare,

I would like to go down to a 16" wheel if possible, they would be mega tight but, I think they might fit...

Anybody running 16 hartges with the audi discs and E38 brembo calipers?

What kind of spacer do you run and how does it fit the car?

Well I made a bracket and fitted the caliper. I tried a 16 inch hartge but the need a 27mm spacer. That's too much. I can see if I can lower the height of the caliper but I doubt it will be enough.

Is that with the split-rim Hartge or the solid type?

The WMS 298.5mm 4 pot kit needs a 2mm spacer for the split rim and 3-4mm for the solid one so it looks like it's 23-25mm lower profile than the Brembo option which is surprising!

That's the solid type. It's quite the difference indeed.
