You're lucky you got that reply off dezzybreakermart wrote:thanks for nothing

Why would you bother? a complete waste of money. Theo ran a temp sensor in his diff and the z3m back plate made no difference to the oil temp over the standard cover.Kos wrote:I'm surprised you didn't get a finned diff back plate from a Z3 M

Fully agree, BMW won't have tested and developed it for no reason. The additional heat generated in the differential from the S54 may be a cause but this but it doesn't explain the lack of difference from Theo's tests (300hp SR20). BMW may have seen temp spikes in some of there dynamics/powertrain tests that weren't simulated in Theo's use on track.fourmotion wrote: Interesting info regarding Theo and the temperature readouts. Do you think the way the air flows under the e30 might be the cause? There must've been some benefit otherwise why would BMW have gone to the effort of fitting it?

Yes it was on a trailer going up the M6! Nothing wrong with it dude, still in build! Monumental effort by TRD and friends. Cant believe how much time, effort and money its taken to get to this point..... No turning back now!brettski wrote:I'm sure i saw this on the m6 this week on the back of a trailer. Hope its ok!

I seen a ±2 20ºC reduction in final drive with the Z3 cover, I bet Theos temp sensor was not in far enough. Believe me, the cover is needed on a track car.oldroydsr4 wrote:Fully agree, BMW won't have tested and developed it for no reason. Who knows but I for one would not pay £250 for a diff back plate only to break a fin off when the diff falls off the jack on install.
