Hi All,
May attempt the removal and cleaning of ICV, got the carb cleaner already. Can anyone advise on the removal first then the cleaning?
Car is a 318 IS M42 engine.
Many Thanks in advance.

I dont remember it being a problem. You remove it from the back of the head, spray it with cleaner, let it drain out and refit. Check the pipes for splits whilst you at it.

Thanks for this, do you need to remove the inlet manifold to get access or can you get to it without doing that?
Good idea to check pipes.
Any idea how it's held in?

if it has the original un bypassed ridiculous pipe system going on it's a bit of a fiddle, but you can carefully pull it from the piping without too much hassle.

inlet/plenum is the best route, just because it lets you inspect the water/breather pipery..

there's a way to bypass a) the TB heater jacket array, and b) the combined breather system with no issues.

pics if poss and a bypass may be in order

It's coming back to me how fiddly it is under the manifold now!
Would like to keep original so will probably have a fiddle around and try and prize it off.
Thanks again.

Yeah, it's stopped the engine hunting around, it's ticking over really smoothly. But it was getting better anyway the more i dorve it so could have been lack of use.
Can't have done any harm though and we've checked all the pipes too. Also cleaned all the air inlet system up to the inlet mani too. All good stuff!
Thanks
