When the car was sold by Keith to Max was the number plate arrangement made by gentleman's agreement by any chance.

The thing is we currently stand in a society that straddles two schools of thought precariously. On the one are the upstanding members of the community who still believe in the concept of honesty, integrity and the value of a promise or one's word. On the other however......

I don't know either party, but one thing is for sure. If Max is on the V5C with E30 KH we can expect either the car to be sold with the plate and a new thread outlining how someone is going to have their legs broken or getting our hearts warmed by the story of how Keith got his plates back.

hmmm... Alot of business is done this way with people it seems reasonable to trust. I hope Keith gets plates back!

However if as Hongkongfuey suggests, he has the paperwork for the plates he may well be able to provide some sort of proof of ownership. That's only gonna help Keith.

As i see it , Whoever owns the car owns the plate unless the paperwork to put it on retention before the car was sold , Looks like he may have lost the plate
The only paperwork he will have is probably when he purchased it ??
