It's a bonnet that has been modified in a way that the headlights get slightly covered as if it has eyebrows. Looks great on some cars imo.
A bonnet that doesnt fit then..

Cling film could be a good idea, but I doubt it would stop people pissing on it

I'd say you've already achieved your aim Stevie.

I have been doing some research on your behalf about the Perspex bonnet. It seems there are companies that can do it but it's not cheap. Around £5000, in fact.

Another problem is that Perspex is not a hard-wearing material. It would get scratched up and start looking crap in no time at all.

No easy way to DIY it either but don't let us put you off.

Perhaps you could achieve the best of both worlds (and to save the expense of a full perspex bonnet) by having just a small part of the original bonnet done in perspex, say a kidney bean shape or something over a part that showed something interesting like the manifold or throttle body. Just an idea that may be easier to do.

Might be an easier / cheaper option and could be a bit of a test bed for taking it further if you so wished :-)

Kidney grill 'style' cut out echoing the design on the front of the E30?

As I've mentioned previously, the only reason to carry out this mod is to whore off something epic under the bonnet. Unless there is M Power, V8 or V12, it's going to be a waste of time.

I agree with George there in all honesty. I like Stevie so dont take it as negitive feedback fella.

You'd need something very special under the bonnet for it to be on show... Or something highly polished with everything brand spanking new...

This is seriously funny. :D

Don't take it the wrong way but I think a perspex bonnet will look absolutely horrid. Save the energy and use it on doing something else to the car.....Would be far more worth while in my opinion.

P.S some top class posts in this thread, left me in stitches :D

:hammer: Stevie why do you continue to do this to yourself lol

:rolling: Some classic comments again. seems to be a regular thing in Stevie's threads

As said above a perspex bonnet is for whoring something special under there!

Stevie. You need to check the temperature that Perspex or Acrylic becomes flexible at (in other words, a state that you can mould it to a bonnet shape) and compare that to the kind of temperature your engine bay reaches at full steam.

The last thing you would want is to set out on a cruise with your gleaming new Perspex bonnet, only to find when you get to your destination that you have shrink - wrapped your engine :(

.
Stevie, get yourself to a Tupperware partah. Buy 50 or so large container lids.
Staple, glue or nail said lids together. Place on bonnet and shape with sharp knife.
May be better to get someone else to do that last bit.

Remove existing bonnet and take hinges off . Staple, glue or nail hinges to bonnet
shaped Tupperware and attach to car.. Voila, you also have the added bonus of knowing
that Tupperware easily withstands the heat from a microwave, so what possible harm could the heat from a BMW engine do?

Only messing Stevie, nothing wrong with having dreams fella.

He will be ok unless the engine is on fire, the point at which Perspex becomes workable is around 150°c.

this will look great with neon lights on the inner wings and those sparkplug flashing thingies :D

sadly the wheezing oil spluttering M40 will soon soot the Perspex up, making it look like a carbon one ?
