Hi does anyone know where I can get hold of any rust, dent free wings for my facelift 325? If not where is the best place I can get good quality replacements.
£400 from the main dealers is abit much.

But they will fit,perfectly....

Pattern wings are available from Hadrian panels,or Beaver panels, but check with your bodyman how long/much to make them fit properly.

I need a new wing too (rust from the indicator down), usually get one from the 'for sale' section, or put a post in the 'wanted' section.

Just waiting at the moment to replace mine, got other things to do first, then the wing and welding.

Patern parts can be a pain, much better off getting good used ones from a fellow zoner and if needs be, get is sprayed up (which i will probably have to do, not many schwartz (straight gloss black) parts around at the moment

If you do find one you should be expecting to pay 50% of the new price at least
Most wings coming off breakers are well fckd now :(

The wings from BMW are now 'BMW Approved parts and accessories' which means they're not the originals made on BMW's panel presses (they've run out, in other words) but a third party repro. They're okay but nothing exceptional and do require a modest amount of tweaking to fit.

Veng do good pattern wings which once trial fitted and tweaked before painting, are fine. Very few decent original wings left. The ones I've rescued from breakers have sold instantly for fifty quid a pop - probably worth more now.

This is not good news,Andy!

Will David Manners soon be the 'approved' supplier of 'genuine' BMW E30 bits?

interesting to read that, no point in buying from bmw then and paying a premium if thay re not original, surely they still have the original presses somewhere ?

I've been saying this for about 5 or 6 years when i got stung by BMW with an "approved wing".

Panel gap lines were fine however it had too many bolts holes along the top and the gap around the grille was much bigger than a true original wing and it had the sharp point on the where it curves ronud to meet the bonnet.

As at the time we assumed it was a genuine BMW wing it was all prep'd and wasn't until it came to fitting we realised something wasn't right we dug the sticker out the box. Personally i'd be looking for the best quality pattern part needing a few tweaks if i ever need a new wing as i was never happy with the one on my iS and it just wasn't worth the extra £100 it cost at the time.

I'll take a used wing, even a small amount of rust can be sorted out and sprayed up no problem, still work out cheaper than patern parts. There is guy on ebay who does patern wings, sprayed and delivered for about £265.00 each.

Rather get a used one do the nessassary repairs and spray it, cost me much less then £265.00, probably not even £100.00

The thing is at least there are pattern parts available at a reasonable price unlike some cars . I had a second hand mk2 Cortina wing two years back and sold it for £150 plus postage which was about half what a pattern part cost at the time and these are welded on not bolted .

Andy, do you know who supplies the BMW approved wings? I'm guessing it should be possible to buy these prior to BMW sticking their sticker on and hiking the price.

Now i am due to be buying to genuine brand new wings from a zoner,i also phoned Bmw and also got quoted £400.
I am not so happy about the fact that they could poss be repo wings, whats the point of trying to keep everything genuine on our bmw.
I cant see this as being fact can anybody else shed some light on the matter.

4 years ago i had to buy a wing for my sport as some cock drove into it whilst it was parked up. The only panel my sport has had might i add.

2 years ago i had to buy a wing for my old S50 E30 as some cock drove into it whilst it was parked up (and i was in it!)

Simon13 bought a pair of wings for his C2 resto 3-4 years ago.

All genuine BMW panels, not approved.

Never even heard of or seen approved panels being sold by BMW.

Would like to see a part label for one.

How much? right colour in all for my iS!

Interesting to hear the dealer wings aren't the originals anymore... pointless buying them from there anymore so even costs aside!

Won't have anything now but i do remember it took a hell of a long time for the wing to turn up at the dealers, think it was getting on for 3 weeks or something really daft. Thought it was odd at the time, and even more so now looking back and knowing nearly everything gets to the dealer within a week if it's back order. Was Sytner Leicester if that make any odds.

The label from what i remember had the BMW part number on it, a barcode, and in small print BMW APPROVED PART (or something along those lines).

Hopefully Andy can shed some more light.

Will see if i can find any pics that show the fitment issues.

BMW don't have E30 panel presses going making panels. They stopped making the cars almost 20 years ago. They were better than the likes of Ford, but the time came (probably very recently) when the stock of wings etc they had, just ran out. Don't have any more, not making any more. The panel presses would have been sold for scrap years ago. Like they don't make wishbones, dampers, glass, they now don't make wings but they will find a supplier of decent repros, stick an 'approved part' label on and there you are, complete with a nice mark up. It's what Mobile Tradition do. They weighed up the cost of remaking a panel press against the 1500 wings a year they might sell and though 'bollocks to that' and got on the phone to Veng or whoever. I've no idea (or interest) in who makes them now. They're pretty good though.

Having seen the parts store at Dingolfing, it's no wonder it took them 20 years to run out. You should see the stock of E34 and E32 panels. Rows and rows of doors, wings, bonnets etc.

If those were the wings that I sold to Scott180gb, then they were either perfect originals, or genuine BMW replacements.
