hi iv got a 1989 325i cab, my jet wash have stopped working but the wipers work fine. all the fuses are ok, i was thinking it might be the long black K10 relay.

is it possible for the relay to go such a way so the wipers work but not the jet wash?

Have you checked the pump and connections, do you hear any noise when the stalk is pulled?

Has it been iced up? A lot of cheap screen wash from Tesco's etc only protects you down to -5c and it's been much colder than that!

Give the motor a little tap if it does not make a noise, if it does unplug the hose somewhere and investigate where a blockage may be.

Oh and if the motor does not make a noise and you can't get it to work, connected a 12v bulb to the electrical connections to see if they are all ok.

K10 does not control the washers. They are controlled only by the column switch, which earths the negative side of the motor.
The washer wire connection to K10 is to activate the wipers when you use the washers.

Pull the plug off of the washer pump. Connect a 12 volt bulb between the purple/black at the plug and earth. Does the bulb light with the ignition on?
If yes, connect the bulb across the two pins of the plug, and pull the washer switch with the ignition on. If the bulb lights, the pump is faulty.
Note that if the wipers don't activate when you pull the washer switch, the chances are that it's the switch that is faulty, or its connections.

i've changed a few switches over the years for this problem...you can probably get away with cleaning up the contacts in the switch
