I like how you swear at people on forums, show what a "hard" person you are.

My premiums actaully go down, I was merely stating something which I thought might be of interest to someone out there.

I'm only 19, and pay a hell of alot for my insurance, but I don't moan thank you very much! I can clearly see how much of a c*ck you are... :D :D

I think thats Hairys point - the reason you pay a 'hell of a lot' for your premium is possibly down to people making fraudulent claims against insurance companies, who then offset this against your/our premiums.

Yes true because they have to recuperate their losses from somewhere surely.

I don't see the point or reason behind swearing at me for just making a statement though? Do you? :?

i crashed a year ago entering a dual carriage way. About 2am, greesy road, tired = my fault. Wasn't going fast but just lacked concentration.

Not too bad so gathered my bits off the road then a police car turned up. Said the car wasn't road worthy to drive so said my brother would come and tow me back. There was damage to the front but the wheels turned freely, brakes all fine, rear lights ok, etc.

Police bloke said it has to be taken on a loader either back to the house or to the police station. Asked if i had arranged one, I said no, he says "I'll sort one for you". Not having been in this situation I thought fair enough... Low loader turns up and as its going on I ask how much it was going to cost. "£300 plus VAT"!! Bearing in mind I live about 5 minutes away I thought this was a bit steep.

He then said I have to pay cash... I didn't have a card so said I'd ring up at home and pay by phone. Sorry mate, office closed. We're now at about 3.30am. Had to phone someone to bring a card out, withdraw £300, pay him and he dropped it off at the house.

Found out that for a police call out its supposed to be £150 and no VAT is payable. Complained to the police and recovery company then got the money back! :D

everyones premiums are up at the moment because of the level of personal injury claims, something like 10%.

you premium will have gone down simply due to your age increasing.

if you were in the same situation a couple of years ago i bet you your premium would be a lot less.

if you actually knew me you would know i also swear like a trooper in real life.

i also have no need to "act" "hard" on a forum, i behave on here just the same as i do in real life.

as for calling you out on suggesting a fraudulent injury claim for £3500 via an ambulance chasing lawyer,

id rather be a "c*ck" than a greedy little boy.

ok, im done.

raj, i wont OT your thread anymore.

pisser about the weekend, and personally i think the recovery costs are totally over the top, i certainly would be challenging it and theres no way i could be as calm about it as you, i expect id probably still be in a cell right now.

the car dosent look too bad, as long as the front ends still straight (if not then its around £300 per leg for jigging) then i would say its repairable yourself for £400.

Cheers Hairyscreech, i had a good look today, and the outer wing, bonnet, headlights, grill and valance have taken the hit.

Bumper seems ok, and so does the legs. The inner wing needs strightening, so all in all, not to bad.

As for staying calm, i have to, if i fly off my rocker and argue my pants off, it will just stress me out more then i am, and at this moment in time, its something i really dont want to be dealing with tbh

no worries, i was leaving it in order not to get into a keyboard warrior match, thats not how i work.

one thing that bugs me is people deliberately gaining at the expense of others.

but tbh i shouldnt get snappy. so were both at falt. :surrender:

one thing you will find on here is people dont like people who either deliberately fail to inform there insurance, drive uninsured, front there insurance etc.
as its all things like that that cause premiums to be so high in this country.

personally mines gone down once again but its inspite of premium increases across the board (and 5 years no claims helps)
i expect your paying quite a bit closer to £1000 than you would like to be.

Im paying £2,600 on a 1.4 peugeot first driver fully comp, and on the iS I'm 3rd driver after my parents and it's still higher than £2,600.

Yeah you're right mate, I did act a bit of an idiot there.
I personally have never made a claim and would like to drive safely without ever having to go anywhere near any sort of claim procedure as it's not my type of thing, I just posted something I got told by a freind :o:

Again, sorry if I've been an idiot, its not what I wanted. Sorry! :D

G n H as Punch would say 'thats the way to do it' :thumb:

The way I see it we all have a soft spot of E30's and its when the cars are brought into disrepute IE. through their custodians (owners) blagging insurance, driving it like a cock in areas where its stupid/dangerous and other anti social activities.

All newer BMW cars have a stigma attached due to the attitude of the owners but E30's imo are now in a different class and most on here have the odd eyebrow raise or sometimes in my case a few extra veins along neck and temple area when the slowly approaching uber classic 3 series is shown in a lesser light due to an owner.

this was a storm in a tea cup

god :o: I'm off to bed

Gutting to see this. Tbh, I'd be accepting the £400 from the van driver's company and seeing how far it can stretch. Any insurance job will result in the car being written off and your premiums increasing owing to the fact that you will need to declare it as a no fault incident for next year's renewal.

Scandalously baadly managed by the police regarding the whole impound malarkey. Hope you get your money back.

Best of luck getting it all sorted.

**UPDATE**

Spoke to the owner of the van drivers company again this morning and since speaking to his insurnace company, he has been advised not to offer me the £400 and to take it through the insurance.

I spoke to his insurnace company and said to them, that i would like to keep my car here and for them to send out an engineer to inspect the car at house. They refused to do this, even after speaking to a manager. They wanted to have the car at their repair centre as they get two/three different oppionis on repair cost and damage inspections. I offered to let a approved repair centre look at the car here, so that i can keep the car at home, but they wont allow it as they have their own engineers. The manager said, if they see it unfit to repair, then they will get rid of the car and pay me out the value of the car. They dont allow to buy the car back due to new laws???? What new laws????

Im seriously gutted/upset/p!ssed off as i can not let them do this, due to fear of losing the car.

At this moment in time, it looks like me paying form my pockets to get it back on the road.

Raj - you seem to have the same luck as me mate - sounds as though the insurance company could be looking to avoid liability though?

Car doesnt need to go anywhere you dont want it to, they are using scare tactics to try and nick your car.
They will value the car in an office, they dont need to see it.
If you want a repair estimate get an independent to look at it

When some fool rammed into the side of me I used an accident management company to sort it out as my insurance wanted me to pay them £400 before they would make a phone call to the idiots insurers. The valuation was independent, nothing to do with the idiots insurers, the repair estimate was by a local bodyshop who didnt charge me for anything, if I couldnt have got the car to them they would have sent someone to come to my house and look at it.

Dont give in to the insurers, they have no say where or if your car goes, if you dont like the way they are playing get someone else to sort it 8)
