What’s the most you’ve spent in one go on your e30?

Probably between £3k-£4k 'tidying up bodywork', wheels and other bits and bobs, still to deal with engine and want to renew brake, petrol pipes, powdercoating and reseal underneath, paint engine bay etc.

I think the big service I got done on mine when I first bought it cost me about £1800, including fitting the suspension which I bought myself, so a B12 kit and roll bars from evolve on top of that. Not bad for a £600 ebay special

£500 on a engine rebuild, including having the head rebuilt with new valves after cambelt slippage (new belt, incorectly installed
) Mainly parts cost, since i did most of the labour myself.
£300 on a 3.91 LSD
£200 on a fuel tank and getting that installed (didn't fancy changing a tank on the drive)

About £400 quid for my IS and auto to manual conversion/rear brake overhaul. Or £250 on a stainless steel exhaust.

didn't know he suffered from irritable bowel syndrome.
to date the only garage bill was for £50.
many thanks Ant.
but with what I have in mind for a Touring I've got it roughly worked out to 7.8K
Looks like there's quite a few nutters on here that keep the world a happier place.

On e-bay last night a light blue 320i se on an H plate in the same town as me ended. It ended with no bids (they were asking £800 for it). The car looked fairly mint.... shame I had nearly spent £1k getting mine through the MOT a few days before
But as they say .... better the devil you know!
But as they say .... better the devil you know!
Pre turbo I spent twice what I bought the car for on parts and repairs, £300 the day after to weld in a new drivers footwell
Five sets of wheels, three wings and two interiors on top, £2k atleast there.
Original turbo kit was under £1k but I've had 2x ecus', 2x turbo's, 2x intercoolers, 2x boost pipe sets, 2x exhausts, added boost guage etc
But the main cost would be labour, I've put in 1000's of hours over the six years or so I've had this e30, even xmas day in the snow and the hottest day we've had here thrown in too, lost some skin over that one!
I feel the whole project has been an investment is me, more than the car, I started off asking questions to Ant at a Lakeside meet about a BBTB and chip, 4yrs later my car had doubled it's power was featured in a car mag, I didn't pay anyone to do anything after the initial help, so I must have learned something along the way. Can you really put price on experiance?

I know how you feel, i have still to pay for Matts body resto and paint and a new engineStuBeeDoo wrote:In the last year I've spent £2k in one hit on body resto, £1.7k in one hit on an engine rebuild and probably another £1k in dribs and drabs.
In 6 years I've probably thrown more than £10k at a car that realistically has a market value of no more than £1k.

Biggest bill £1800 plus the same again in parts, suspension + brakes + bushes etc.
In 4 years of ownership I've spent, 1K purchase, 5k on maintanence, 3.5K of toys (strictly uneccessary upgrades), 2.5K of tax and insurance, 1K converting to LPG.
Suffice to say I'll never sell unless my life depends on it.

i'm really sorry guys but i'm about to pi$$ you's all off my cabby stands me at the £1000 mark and i've since added nearly new apex springs n shocks all round (i came to an arrangement with a fellow zoner and spent the day working on his house for these )
and got rid of the horrible auto box and in its place put a getrag260 manly box (again an arrangement with the said zoner) (yet to be paid but we settled on 2 days labour at his house)
so since buying my car ive had to buy a spigot bearing and a tub of clutch fluid
ohhhhh happy days
