The car is a tired old turd. It has been in a mates workshop for months , it came in as a non runner and as with most of these cars it is /was a bodged up dog on which he spent days on in an attempt to make it into a running working car. I have seen it up close, the paint is crap and several different shades, the kit is obviously incorrect and doesn't fit very well, the interior is a nasty retrim, the clocks are crap , touch up stick dechrome etc etc

The seller has it advertised elsewhere for £8500

The C2.5 had a cam, an ecu change and an exhaust. Thats about it mechanically. 192 bhp is the power figure.

Whats wrong with a prefacelift cab with a tech2 kit?....

On this particular car..Yes the kit is an add on, as its a an 87/E reg cab and an Alpina at that, so like Pete says it is obviously incorrect....

But BMW did make prefacelift Cabs with the Tech2 fitted at the factory, just not coupes, saloons, etc etc....

No? None of the e30 had cam covers with Alpina on it. The C2 2.7 had a dark grey inlet and cam cover (standard m20). C2.5 had standard.

Those Alpina cam covers you see are aftermarket.

As Trev said the ones with ALPINA on are not the real McCoy. Normally the rocker cover is Black and on the C2 2.7's the inlet manifold is also blacked out.

Not all C2 2.7's had painted inlet manifolds!

And also shows why its not always a bad thing when people apparently slag cars off over the internet.

Most of these turds have a story to them!

Too right. Last thing I'd want to do is buy a dud then find out the right info was here all the time.

@Low e30 - are you sure they made tech2 pre face lift cabs at the factory?

110% Agree
Why would anyone do it?

Espcially when the tech1 kit is by far and away a better looking kit IMO

@ Barry I totally agree any joker can advertise a turd on eBay ask top dolla, with a few dodgy pic's and take someone who dosent know better eyes out.

The second type of motor sport cabrios (sebring grey, macau blue with bubble leather) had a tech 2 kit on a pre facelift shell.

The uses a facelift front valence to work with the kit and a unique bracket to hold the rear bumper to the rear valence, something that everyone leaves out when retro fiting a tech 2 kit to a prefacelift car.

In short, yes BMW did do it but propperly, ish.

Barry, what "special " bracket is needed for the rear bumper then, I have used the origional Tech 2 bracket , but this leaves a gap between the bumper and rear qtr slightly.

Well BMW themselves done it for starters.... winkeye

One of the most sought after E30 cabriolets, the Motorsport, in Macau & Sebring guise came in Prefacelift with Tech2 like Barry confirmed.......Very attractive cars I might add.... Some prefer the earlier lights, some prefer the later type... Different strokes for different folks. :D

Some would ask, why put a 24v engine in an E30?... I can see the allure there myself but some may not.

Some would ask, why put a hardtop on a Cabriolet?..Defeats the object of a convertble they say.... But I swear by them, got one on my E30 and my W124 Cabriolet.

What makes something 'wrong' ?...Because it may not agree with ones opinion or tastes?....Or because BMW didnt do it?

If you had quoted the next line you would see IMO and never did I say it was 'wrong'. I asked why anyone would as IMO the tech 2 kit can't compaire to the tech1.

It's all about opinions though. 8)

^^Yes you never did say that it was wrong I agree, but you did '110% agree' with a statement that did say it was wrong!... Thats why I only quoted the bit I did. :D

By the way Iv got an Tech1 kitted Cab with chrome bumpers tucked away somewhere, but would still love an Tech2 cab. :D

Buy a facelift then!

Tech 2 looks cheap and plasic IMO. I have a 4 door kit the the garage. Looks even worse in person.

Tech 1 sport is very

Chrome is where it's at

Yep, had my chrome 9 years now... :D

Would buy a Tech2 Sport or a facelift M-Sport Cab in a flash if I unloaded either my 190E 2.5-16 or my W124 AMG kitted Cabriolet.... but Cant see that happening for a while yet so have to make do with my Tech1 Cab for my E30 fix!....
