How can I tell if head gasket is standard or thicker?

I'm trying to find out if the head on my 325i has ever been skimmed, the gasket has a part number of 1121722736.1 which is very close to what REAL OEM are quoting of 1112172234 for the 1.75mm and 1112172235 for the 2.05mm.

Does anyone know how I can trace the part number as my local dealer could not find it?

How can I tell if the gasket is standard or oversize?

Is the head off the car if so there should be indecators on the corners of the head on the sealing side if these are gone and smooth the chances are it has a thicker gasket fitted if it didnt it would the piston would rattle the valves

The head is off and I can see there are little dimple on the sealing side of the head, pics below, cant tell if this has been machined in the past or not, had it checked and it perfectly straight, do i really need it skimmed and a thicker gasket or just use a standard one?

A skim is the standard responce when you ask a machine shop if it needs it or not.
Give it a clean with a scouring pad and check its true then bolt it down (provided its not cracked)

I could be way out here - but I think the gasket size is based on the type of engine. Look at the plate fixed to the inside of the slam panel behind the off side head lights. Should have numbers 25 6E or 6K then a number on its own - this will be 1 or 2

That will I think it says on OEM which gasket size based on the number 1 or 2

1 is earlier engine - low compression
2 is face lift engines from 1987 onwards high compression
E is injection
K is cat
