Thats due to the M50 manifold Lee, it will be leaking air somewhere, most probably the throttle itself
Map flashers start at £200 and work upwards with no guarantee the car will be running properly afterwards, if you want your EWS/key aligning to a 2.8 ECU send it up here while the car is off road having the lump swapped, this IMO is the best route for you to take as you keep the full standard key, if you need a new key or chip you just order from your VIN

Si, why waste time with more alloy block shit?
Look around for a 2.5 M50, they're not dear. I've sold some really lovely 2.5's for £300 and they're ten times better than some 2.8 in a scrapyard.
Put it in with all the 323i manifolds, loom etc and off you go.

hmmm, I might be interested in the cone filter etc if you want to selltomson wrote:I agree, the e36 forum and the 5 series forum are both dead compard to the zone but on the plus side there are far less 'tards on them! M5board is far more active for the 5 but they obviously only chat about M5's!
The DaveF thing they all go on about is fitted to my M3, I dont believe the heatshield is efficient enough around town in traffic IMO... I'll be taking it off as soon as I order the standard intake box pipe from BMW...

We owned a Cupra for a while. Nice car. The forum wasn't too bad in the Mk2 section. Although I royally flamed them when they started talking about how they 'power slide' or 'drift' their cars.... Dickheads!!gareth wrote:E36 owners are a bit 'special'![]()
i think they have less of a 'scene' than we do.
you should try the seat cupra forum my little bro uses sometimes. they're only interested in what bodykits/wheels fit, what dealership will do them the best trade in on a newer model and what dealership to take the car to when new brake pads etc are neededthey have NO IDEA how the cars work. at forum meets they have a 'no car chat' rule!
I'm with you there. I stuck a post up on one of the 5 series forums introducting myself when I bought the E39, and didn't get a reply.B7 wrote:Si. I feel the same re the 5 series forum. It's not as bad as e36.com but it's very quiet. You'd have thought that there would have been at least one person who'd changed a wiper motor on an e39![]()
I used to know a couple of the founders of e36.com Kul and Russell.
I think that's one of the reasons that I still visit the zone, although I have no E30 at the moment...

'power' understeering off the road, then complaining about dealer repair costs! Hardly drifting! the toyota starlet GT bunch are the same, talking about 'drifting' their cars in the snow...Rosc0PColtrane wrote:We owned a Cupra for a while. Nice car. the best type of Seat owners to talk to are dub-heads on VW forums, they buy the things to be different (hard in dub-land) and actually know how they work!

pulled the shagged 2.5 today

i didn't enjoy taking it out much, but its all a learning curve. F'ing sump bulge in the wrong place! lol

The "new" 2.8

I've tried to be clever and not touch the A/C or PAS. Less stuff to refil/gas up etc
How much is a good M52 head worth?

I don't hate them either. My next track car will be a compact. It's just that I like E30's muuuuuch more. 36's have better motors.

Last time i went on there all they could tell me was get my car on a computer to have it diognosed what was wrong with it and thats what most of the posts in the technical help section say from what ive read on there

when there are multiple sensors that can give the same symptoms, I'd be happier to get a diagnostic done than replace a sensor and still be in the same position.town325i wrote:Last time i went on there all they could tell me was get my car on a computer to have it diognosed what was wrong with it and thats what most of the posts in the technical help section say from what ive read on there
If it wasn't for e36coupe.com I wouldn't have my m3 so leave it alone!!

Ive been a member on e36coupe.com for a very long time. It's a brillaint forum!! There isn't always going to be an answer to your question, but if you're patient there usually is.
Some of the guys on there know pretty much everything there is to know about e36's. But not everyone has the time to spend all day searching for unanswered questions! If someone comes accross your thread and knows the answer im sure you'll get a responce.
Have you tried searching your query? People get annoyed when the website has a search box but people are too lazy to use it.
I've always found an answer to my questions (whether it means searching or posting a new thread).
Ps. DaveF is a Brilliant piece of kit! Don't knock it if you haven't tried it
