Crack test, light skim and new bolts as a minimum. The bolts are stretch bolts, and don't return to their original length when removed.
Refacing of the valves, renewing of the exhaust valve guides, and re cutting and reseating of all the valve seats is also a good idea.

[quote="Supafly"]hi,
the recommendation on most engines is to use new bolts and at a minimum have the head skimmed.
hi i am doing the work and i think the head is craked.

What about valve stem oil seals too?Brianmoooore wrote:Crack test, light skim and new bolts as a minimum. The bolts are stretch bolts, and don't return to their original length when removed.

buy a head set it will come with all the gaskets seals ect and a set of head bolts with new oil and filter this should cost no more than £100 its up to you how far you go though ie lapping the valves stem seals /valve guides
