They're only the same if you have ABS, otherwise the 320 has solid discs and slightly narrower callipers. All 325's have vented discs up front and wider callipers to accommodate these.
EDIT. Ignore this post unless you have a coupe or saloon cos i forgot to ask whether it was a tourer/cabby!

Fronts??
They should be. There is 2 types of caliper, ATE and Girling, but as long as you get a matching pair you should be fine. - I fitted the ATE calipers from my Sport to my touring which had Girlings.

Well i just called up B&B Components in maidstone and they told me it was coming up as vented discs, i said that you guys told me they were solid. So i checked and they are vented.
Double checked it has no ABS (no pump by front left) so i guess you guys are misinformed! always a first im sure!

Yeah you did but there were others saying solids so i was confused. Just checking really. But thank you for posting that link. Not seen it before, looks pretty good.johnt0709 wrote:I did say that?johnt0709 wrote:Showing vented on a lot of models? mmmmm

Why? If your current vented discs are OK, then a clean up and new pads are all you'll need. When I changed the front legs on mine, I thought about adding 'spicier' discs for a while, but my existing, 21 year old, vented discs were perfectly adequate and still are. If you're going to stick a 200bhp+ lump up front then maybe an upgrade, but otherwise there's not a lot of point.

Zimmerman discs crack easily, as do any cross drilled brakes tbh!

THe reason im replacing them is that they arnt ok. They are heavily worn, with score marks and a huge lip. Besides as they arnt costing the earth why not? Why stay standard?DavieP wrote:Geoff wrote:Well done that man. Cheers. Probably going to source some zimmerman drilled discs.

Thats your opinion but i dont subscribe to that. As i recall Zimmerman used to supply BMW a while back. Yes there are mixed reviews about them, i have had good experiences on my old H26 so for that reason alone im going to stick another set on. Especially as they are fairly cheap.Cook318IS wrote:Zimmerman discs crack easily, as do any cross drilled brakes tbh!
If all drilled discs cracked then why does an e46 M3 have them. Most 911's...in fact the majority of performance related cars do.
Cheap drilled discs (ebay specials etc) will crack - M3s, 911s etc will not have cheap discs.Geoff wrote: If all drilled discs cracked then why does an e46 M3 have them. Most 911's...in fact the majority of performance related cars do.

a freind is using Zimmerman discs, he's had them on for quite a while iirc,
never been any problems and he uses his car for trackdays regularly ?

Im not counting the likes of zimmerman etc as cheap discs - I mean the real ebay specials. Ive heard rumours of ebay traders buying in cheap plain discs (even branded discs), having them drilled and selling them on for a lot moreGeoff wrote:This is for street, no track work. id be very surprised if they cracked.jmc330i wrote:Cheap drilled discs (ebay specials etc) will crack - M3s, 911s etc will not have cheap discs.Geoff wrote: If all drilled discs cracked then why does an e46 M3 have them. I dont use drilled discs personally, but a few mates with modded cars do and they dont have problems. One did have a Brembo disc crack, but that was after a caliper stuck on slightly and really cooked the disc.
