Yep!

I thought I was special landing my apprenticeship at a Bentley Dealer, but it seems like every time I tell someone they reply with "I know someone who worked there" :).

All these people saying i wouldn't buy a genuine battery and all these folk chatting shit about varta stickers. I don't care about bentleys tbh honest, its some VAG turd now imo that aint a touch on a roller

So we have evidence about how bloody long a bmw battery lasts yet folk still like the buy cheap buy twice option, amazing

If they are so good why dont BMW give proper warranties like everywhere else does?
They are obviously good as has been proved, so why is it not reflected with some proper service?

It's a small world! Good luck with it. Don't be like 99% of apprentices. Put the effort in, and you'll be fine!

my place don't quibble with a receipt,

This is how my parts manager explained it to me, you bring the car back with receipt. If you have fitted the part to the car yourself, the car will be inspected in the workshop. If the part is found faulty the dealer will fit and replace the faulty part no quibble.

Fair enought to me? but my local dealer isn't brimming with 'tards.

I've never had a genuine bmw part fail in 2 years, everything they sell lasts a long time!

You dont get that with patern parts.

Unless say for example... the customer has a 24v engine in their e30 and their throttle cable snaps (only about 2k miles old) up a very steep hill, new cable for free but will charge labour for fitting it :(

With Grammar and sentence structure like that, are you SURE that you aren't from Croydon yourself? winkeye

At the end of the day, BMW do not produce their own batteries. Why they'd be any better than a unit from the same manufacture (does anybody know for sure who manufactures BMW batteries?) is beyond me, especially considering that it could likely be identical apart from casing/branding . If the false sense of security of it being a "BMW unit" is enough for you to happily pay more to get a product with an inferior warranty package (even Halfords bog standard batteries offer 3 years) then fair enough, but To me a cheaper battery with a longer warranty seems like a no-brainer.

E34 m50b25 cable, can't fit it for free becuase its not an e30 engine. Was rather hoping they would flatbed the car away and fit it for free tbh!

Im surprised they replaced it under waranty as its not being used for its intended purpose, ie in an E34.

Both the parts guy and service guy said its covered by the waranty. I've spent an absolute fortune in there and i've had my fair share of problems with them too, they'll probably try charging me when i collect the cable. I did make a point that its running since october fine and there are alot of people with the same conversion and cable who haven't had this problem.

That's rather cool. Does it have to be fitted by an 'approved' garage for the warranty to extend to labour, or could it be fitted by anybody?

Just replaced my e30 325i battery with a 70ah Varta battery from my local motor factors.

Cost £68 and came with a 3yr warranty.

I'm told these are one of the better quality named batteries out there, lets hope so!

P.s It replaced a battery that I was told was recent when I bought the car 18 months ago, from Halfords!
