My brother in law was taking the mick out my old beemers, and at 12 and 22 year old they are, I just laughed it off coming from a brand new vauxhall owner. And the last four words of that sentence sum him up!
I said:

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?

I dont care what anyone says about my car. I feel like a little boy with a new toy evrytime i drive it. I love my car and thats all that matters and ive had loads of notes under the windscreen wiper with offers from folk wanting to buy it. That just makes the boys at work even more annoyed. :D

"Why didn't you get a proper BMW, like a 09 or something"
By a girl I was dropping home!

As I was quite near her house I stood on the brakes and asked her if she would like to walk the rest of the way home?
Even though it was always just to wind me up, she shut up ever since we carried on again to drop her home :D

Some mates give the jokes about it being an old BMW, calling it a kettle, worth fookall and bmws breaking down all the time (Some of them have E36 and E46s and they are always breaking down!!!) Mine only gets put off the road for "improvements" but they see it as something is after breaking and I won't admit it :(

Other than that mostly get all good compliments like, "lovely car", "looks good for its age", "I much prefer the look of the older BMWs", "its quick enough for a 318, has it got a 2.5 in it?" and alot of offers of "would you sell it" etc.

I get mostly positive comments about mine, always makes me smile!
In particular I like it when I'm driving and it catches the eye of someone walking and i see them turn and look watching me drive away.

The one person who often wound me up about mine is now on the look out for one himself, without even going in mine or any other to my knowledge :D

one of my girlfriends mates called mine a "noddy car" once - which I still don't get 8O

The other comments people have made have all been positive - one guy last Year was shocked that they put a 2.5 engine in such a "small" car ( compared to his newish 1.9 Vectra - a bus in comparison to the E30 )!

£145. haha, the steering wheel could nearly make that on ebay!

Thats what I like about the 318iS too is people don't know if it could do a doughnut or not as they only think an E30 can do doughuts with a LSD and only Sports came with them and nothing else apart from something supplied by a welder

A TT owner parked up next to me the other day as i got to work and said:

"Alright mate..are you looking to sell this?"

i said "Depends on how much your willing to...

(saw the 3.18is badge on the back)

"OH ITS ONLY A 1.8...CHEERS ANYWAY MATE!"

and drove off...its an I.S!!!!! :snigger:

all ive ever got is "its clean for its age!" thank god they dont look at the inner arches :teehee:

Makes me laugh when my DAD (the owner of two E30s) says "its just a waste of money" havent told him about the Engine conversion i have planned yet :P

Nothing but good for me and I live in Central London where a vast array of awesome cars are everywhere.

I get the usual, that's in great I love that shape BMW or it's like a new old car! Quite a few people asking if it's for sale too but the most interesting thing is it's been anyone from 20 to 60 years old.

The thread is what are the worst comments you've had about your car - Im sure you've had some derogatory remarks on this forum even if they are 'tongue in cheek' - none of them impressed you as particularly witty? :D
