Are they destined never to grace my M20 crushing 318iS?

What now?

Can you not get replacement key(s) from Sytner :?: Or they might do new lock/key sets.

take one to a locksmiths, they will be able to make a key for it, I lost my only key to a car once, luckily it was open, took the door barrel out and took it to a locksmith and they made me a new key.

Seriously tho, are the locks available separately?

All the caps are on the wheels, closed lol! I'll take a whole wheel down there if I have to. They are quite basic locks so can't see them being that much trouble to a locksmith.

Alpina Sytner just told me that it's locks and caps only @ £87 each.

I have a mint set of caps on there so I'll be damned if I'll be held to ransom. I'll drill those shits out and just run them lockless before I get day-raped by those 8astards.

It sounds to me that even an emergency callout locksmith would be cheaper than a set of new caps. I've never seen an alpina lock but surely it can't be impossible for a specialist to deal with?

They are the basic crappy locks you get on very cheap gym lockers or luggage padlocks.

I'll take a wheel to my local locksmith - for the jokes at least.

Failing that, I guess I really will have to drill them out but the locks also act as a fastener for the caps so that will be an issue.

If its the locking wheel nuts with the keys your on about, drill em out, mine has had the same treatment. you can still use the wheel nuts after they have been drilled out, as long a the hole aint too big

Ratch

just had a look at one of the locks i have out of the caps at the moment
it's only four tumblers in the lock so a locksmith should take about ten minutes to get them figured out

Cheers for reply dude. So I have to wreck one lock to get a key made as I guess they can't make it without opening the barrel.

Why not get one out (destroy it to do so I guess) and order 1 new lock and key from BWM which will also work on the other 3?

Take a wheel wholesale to a locksmiths, if they are a proper setup and not the usual trophy engravers/shoe polishers you will not have any damage to deal with afterwards

Took wheel down to Barry Bros Security (no joke) in Paddington, top notch locksmiths.

Young lad there picked the lock and hand made 2 x keys with no origin code (so by eye with lock disassembled)

£32 all in! No doubt cheaper than a replacement from BMW / Alpina who didn't even bother to call back.

Cheers all!
