I can't vote, because I don't like baurs as they are a butchered saloon, but I also hate the scrappage scheme so don't want them to be used in that!
So basically I think baurs are
And you should just buy a 2 door. I would even rathe ra 4 door.

I must admit I quite like them.
I'm intrigued by just how much Spadge detests them though. Maybe he got shot down by one once or something?!
In terms of appearance, with the roof down the hood does have that unfortunate late 19th century 'bustle' effect because it doesn't stow away inside the lines of the bodywork like a modern cabby. It is a bit of a compromise and a tad ungainly.
Roof up and the hood doesn't follow the same profile as the other e30s. It slopes down gradually, but stays higher for longer, then drops down quite sharply, and isn't as elegant or stylish as a 'proper' e30. It's not disastrous though, and the idea of whizzing round on a sunny day with just the front part of the hood stowed in the boot - targa-top e30ing - does appeal to me quite a lot.
I also wonder if, being this deeply unfashionable now, they'll end up having a meteoric price rise as they turn the corner and start to be 'real' classic cars.
Come to think of it, maybe Spadge is secretly stockpiling them against that day, and that's why he never misses a chance to slate them. Keeping the prices down so he can add to his secret collection while they're ulra-cheap, innit?!
'Fess up, have you got a warehouse full of them somewhere, Spadge?

Still wonder how it was possible to sell 16% off the total production to Great-Brittain.
And anyone with some more history knowledge knows that Baur helped to save BMW after World War II.
But allthough no-brainers like Spadge walk around, most people still know to appreciate the Baur's.
And, Spadge, read instead of posting, BMW had the choice between a Karmann and Baur E21 convertible.

There must be a reason why BMW choose for Baur. And asked them to build a Baur-convertible of the E30 and help them to design the E30 Convertible.
For the ones who appreciate nice Baur's, some pictures:

Barry, would that moredoor be an E30 , an orion 1600E or a staffire with the rare and desireable ford RS (Really Sad ?) bodykit, cough ?
I voted Cool purely on the grounds of that green one...Blitz wrote:Baur's are retro cool.

Apparently the grey, miserable UK takes a disproportionate amount of cabbies of all kinds. They're about 20 times as common here as anywhere else in Europe. (Waits for some pedantic git to point out that it's actually 14.6 times...)Baurtje wrote:Still wonder how it was possible to sell 16% off the total production to Great-Brittain.
Something to do with the psychology of endless winter making you really, really want to get the roof down on the 2 good days every summer probably.
All of the above!pacerpete wrote:bss325i wrote:Seriously jank!

I don't mind them as long as they're nice. I know of a diamond black 320i Baur on a D plate, bottletops, Sports seats etc and he's had it from new. Ordered in from a German dealer and took it direct to Baur in Stuttgart. It's one of those cars that has an appeal when in mint condition with the right wheels.
An absolutely mint Opal green 323i Baur on bottletops would be quite funky, a doom blue 316 Baur with plastic bumpers would be bloody horrible.

It's the john and Edward panto all over again. The reason things are normaly the underdog is they are sh!te. Well in these two cases anywaye301988325i wrote:This is England, we rally underdogs, it's in the blood.Dezzy wrote:Voted to scap. WTF is wrong with the vote they are ugly.

I think I'm going to get some exhaust paint and paint my exhaust black, and then a nice OEM chrome tip. Like the above.
Its had to go back to the machine shop today (Block skim). Little end bushes are made.
Crank, Rods, Clutch Cover, Front pulley, and lightened Flywheel all going to get ballanced.
Then bang it together and then in. Nice to get this biatch finished
