rear bumper removal

Have a look under the rear valance. You'll see 4 x 13mm's that hold the two rear brackets on. Unbolt these, and the bumper should just slide off.
Maybe best to have a mate / long suffering Mrs to hold the bumper as you unbolt..

under the bumper you will see a round hole about level with the light cluster on each side, there is a star drive type bolt in there, undo these bolts and then pull the bumper back towards you and off it comes

the above advice is only specific for the correct model!! if yours is a facelift then you normally need a T55 torx drive, look under the bumper and you will see them, remove the two and slide the bumper toward you. if you look in the wiki pages under fitting tech 2 bumpers it is explained better

Early facelift cars have cap bolts that need a 10mm hex driver, and the later ones have T55 torx, as Lee says.
If the last person to remove the bumper had no idea what copper grease is for, and torqued the bolts up fully, instead of lightly, then resort to georgen's advice. Only three of the nuts are under the car though - one is in the boot.
