If it would cost £20+ on average just to go half way down the channel to Jersey, then I imagine that the poor bugger in singapore will probably be unfortunate with shipping quotes. :?

It is Singapore! Seems quite reasonable to me, and to just own and tax a car over there you have to be minted so I wouldn't worry about the cost too much.

For a start the Singapore customs fee is 31% for vehicles and accesories. Next up car tax is levied on engine size and for every year older than 10 years old an extra 10% is levied for car tax per year. ie. a 18 year old 1.8l BMW E30 would be taxed at 180% the tax rate of a new 1.8l BMW. Lets not forget ERP!

Can't do online trackable or obtain proof of delivery to Singapore either. Not eBay friendly.

A new E36 BMW 328i (2.8cc) cost the equivelent of UK £100,000 in Singapore. Imagine what new E30's cost and what second hand car prices are like.

yep sadly we in australia tend to pay a premium in postage also, the freight rate from the states works out cheaper for us but the range available in england out weighs the states.

I suggest doing it a signed delivery to Singapore, Thailand and similar places. They do tend to go missing sometimes. It doesn't cost too much more.

Remember air freight is calculated volumetrically - length x breadth x width in cm divided by 6000 - the answer is in kg and that is what you will pay for
