the engine turns possibly a bit fast and has a spark.
nothing happens nothing ignites not even a splutter.

the head i used was off somat else so could the cam be different in 325i engines?
also could the crank position sensor be at fault. any way to check it works? as i left it dangling could of got damaged.

any help appreciated my 1st bm and its giving me a headache but once it sorted i know it'll be worth it

I suspect you have used the wrong head, does not match with valve pockets in the pistons, and has bent the valves. The fact that you say it is swinging over a bit fast leads me to believe this is a possibility.

Do a compression test.

If the speed sensor was faulty it is unlikely you would have a spark. Does the fuel pump kick in when cranking?
dont say that. the head seem the same as in where the valves were. i turned it over a few times by hand didnt seem to interefere wid owt.

defo spark and the pump am sure comes on fuel lines were under pressure

Does the head have 885 stamped on it (which indicates it's a 325i one)?

Usually turns out that the fuel lines are connected the wrong way around!

fuel lines are correct. piston 1 is at tdc and the valves for 1 are shut so the timing must be correct. still no luck.

Where is the supply line connected?
There have been many cases on here where the problem has turned out to be swapped lines, after us being assured they were correct!
Apologies if I'm insulting you, but I've no indication of your level of mechanical knowledge and competence!

hello its compression cos i put oil down the bores and turned it it started and then died. really rough. gonna do a leak test on it. its my own stupidity cos i got the head wen i bought the car and the previous owner assured me it was freshly built skimmed valves grinded etc, should of got it checked over. it may be the heads all right and its somat else. i'll find out and keep you informed.

but any knew ides welcome. i didnt touch them sensors near the box so they shouldnt be disturbed
