14.62 was my best, early in the morning. I just got worse as the day wore on. I did quite a few 14.6's, more 14.8s and one shocker of a 15.5   Anyhow I beat my target of a 14.7. I still think that the surface is less grippy than the tarmac outside my house. Perhaps it is a combination of road tyres not really loving the shit they put on it for the dragsters.

A really good meet by all accounts.

I was chuffed the old bus made it there :)

Was disappointed with my times although after the drive down I was kind of expecting it but as nothing had fell off and there were no strange noises I decided I'd give it a few passes. The car seems to make up it's mind when it wants to give you full beans. Sometimes when you nail it it really picks up and goes and others it just seems to struggle to pull round the revs.

Did only 5 runs in total and the first 2 early in the day were the best at a poor 15.2, 60ft times of 2.1. The other 3 runs were 15.5's so I decided to abandon doing runs as it was pointless. Dan had his laptop with him and checked for some fault codes on the ECU and found a cam sensor with fault code so I'm going to be hot on that one and see if it makes a difference. The thing could probably do well for a remap with the inlet manifold etc.

Had a good day though and was good to meet some old and new faces.

i did 4 runs @ 14.9's then pulled 2 runs @14.8! I was hoping i'd hit that (14.85 and 14.88) both at 92mph, lack of top end HP seems to give me a slower top speed than most cars in the high 14's, i'd of been made if i did 14.7 but i'm to fat and so are tourings! lol

Anyhow my story of the day goes to the chump in an e46 M3. I was queing with him to go on the strip and we where paired together so he starts off buy saying "4 pot mate?"

I say "no"

"what is it then?" i say "alpina 2.7 6 pot"

He says "so what you done to it?" i say "nothing just rebuilt the engine, its standard really"

Then he goes "well this is europes first turbo charged M3 mate, running 650bhp" he then slid his helmet on and said "you do know i'm going to kick your arse". I said "yes"............"hence why your running R888 tyres and putting that lid on?!"

He laughed and said "you know it mate"

By now i'm thinking hes a severe c**k.

So we're on the start line, little dohnut before you start. All good. Lights go green......................

The 13 gets a good start with a 0.44 reaction to his 0.89! and the M3 is not to be seen, i heard a clunk carried on into 2nd. I then though there must be big turbo lag he'll fly past now! No he'd lunched it! I give him the middle finger and managed 15.09 @90mph. He came through on 27.14@28mph

So there you have it europes first e46 m3 which is turbo charged is a sack of sh!t

Oh how i did chuckle.

Nice after we broke down a few barriers and finally got a zone area in Gaydon! No wonder they hate us :?
Didn't realise there had been a problem, They fail to mention I had to ask the BMWCC to move from our area, as they were trying to take our area next to the grandstand, although there area was quite clearly marked. They did move though. As far as 'obviously oversubscribed and taking whatever space they could find' we were promised space for 150 cars, we could only fit in 100, who's fault is that? the under enthusiastic BMWCC probably had 15 -20 cars, nuff said.

Spot on Mark, Why did we have 150 passes but just 100 spaces? Really bad planning and they (Pod) know we turn out in large numbers to these events.

I'd be interested to speak to the BMWCC people to try to work out who they spoke to. I'd not like to see a bigger divide between the clubs.

I think there will always this on / off situation with the car club. Too many of us on here now have had bad experinces with our memebership and just can't be doing with the politics of it all.

If it was a different group would there have been so much of an issue?

I think it was bang out of order what happend to Bern as he's an elderly chap , on crouches and is the only person I meet in the BMWCC who made any effort with me over my years membership to get me involed ( all be it after I bought an Alpina ).

It is really odd that the BMWCC attend the pod , I would have thought this was not their kind of event at all. Basically they were comming into our world of shows. This and Gayden are at two compleatly two different ends of the scale and it's kinda obvious this is our biggest show and their smallest show.

Drop the them and us stuff, We are all here for the same thing and it does nothing to help the situation if the see/hear that this mentality is still rife.

Car club does have a lot to offer some people, Those that are not fortunate enough to have contacts at BMW will then get a nice discount plus they offer discounts on insurance etc. They aim at a different market to us but they are still a very valuable resource.

If you can make use of the stuff the membership offers then it's great. For me it offered nothing I can't get anyway thus I didn't continue my membership.

The main discounts seemed to be 10% off at main dealers and GSF, plus Insurance discounts ?

As I pay peanuts for insurance anyway I can't see them getting it much lower and don't we get 10% off dealer prices via Cotswold on here ? I can't see me spending £500 on bits at GSF which is what I would need to do to recoup the £50 subscription - unless the Magazine is something very special ?

I use the us and them stuff purley as we are two sepeirate clubs/forums. I use it to disginquish between the groups , not for stiring up a hornets nest.

It's all politics and personal tastes of what we like in a our cars and they don't always work.

I didn't think it was as good this year, not enough spare part stands to be had and i also think there was to many cars going in and out where people and kids were walking,i know most of these cars were going to the strip from time to time i just think the hole show could and should of been organised a lot better and made safer!i mean they didn't even open the toilets till nearly 2 o'clock saturday for those that were camping,my poor kids almost wet themselves

Too right.

The BMW CC has come a long way in the last 5 years and whilst there is still a small 'snob' element, I never see it in any of the clib meets I go to. The concours bufties can be a bit odd, same with any club though. Think of it as a BMW forum without the headbangers and you're about right. I renew my membership beacuse I do 2 or 3 trackdays a year and it works out at something like 10p a day.
