Hi, this is my first post here although i've been learning from the wealth of knowledge for a few weeks now.

I've got a metallic clink clink noise coming from the rear of my 325i touring, it happens when going over rougher more uneven road surfaces, not particularly when turning corners though.

I'm thinking it could be some bushes need replacing somewhere, just wondering if this is a common problem and if anyone knows what this could be.

many thanks, andy.

Might not be a clink clink noise, but have a look at the rear shock top mounts. These normally fail and a lot of people dont even realise.

Sure its a clink clink noise? not much back there thats going to give you a metal to metal clinking unless some bush or droplink is totally unclebucked or its just something rattling like the exhaust or as ive had before the bushe at the bottom of one of the rear dampers went and had me trying to trace the noise for two weeks.

first thing is to remove the boot side carpet so the top mounts of the shock absorbers are exposed. then sit in the boot while a mate bounces the car up and down. any movement of the top mounts means these are knackered, but easy to replace.

if not this then as above look at exhaust or drop links

Okay thanks, yes its a high pitch metallic clink clink only noticable at low speeds like sub 30mph. This will give me somewhere to start anyway, thanks for the advice, its done 223,000miles so worn parts is probable.
