Let's be honest, they're crappy old sheds really.
I'd rather drive my wife's Polo diesel any real distance.
E30s look good yes, but that's really about it in my book.

Mine's a minter, but it's still dynamically embarrassing by today's standards.

Not at all. Mine is very good, but I'd rather take my Mondeo on a long trip. If it weren't so photogenic I'd scrap it.Alex wrote:sounds like you need to spend some money on the mechanicals

I'm not fishing, I don't really care if you think I am. I am reflecting on the E30s I have owned, having drunk lots of Laphroaig, and it strikes me that they are fabulous and yet rubbish at the same time.oakey wrote:Need to be more subtle if you want people to take the bait. Poor attempt. Go and take your Mondeo for a drive
That's all.

I agree with the o/p, a nice classic, good looks and tank built ect.. heavy to drive ,thirsty as fk and not much performance for the MPG, infact im using an XJ8 at the mo which is the same mpg as my 325 but has 240 bhp (and its nicer to drive).
Ive had lots of E30s and will probably buy another, but somtimes i wonder why.

Its like any kind of car get the best models available instead of woefull turds that give you no pleasure at all. I.e try a good sport or m3 then call it a crappy shed

I sometimes agree with Beerboy...
I see the rust creeping back, and the flipping idle is erratic again.I get blown away by bloody Passats, and I get the feeling they're not even trying!
I keep looking at 328i's,especially after this months TBMW...and I've toyed with the idea of an MX5!
But I honestly cant see me ever seriously wanting to part with my baby. It's just like being married!

MX5 has to expierienced, amazing car. 328-OK car.

I beg to differ. I spent 4 years as a mechanic and got into E30's mainly for the way they do drive. Having driven most cars on the road.
Most modern cars are playstations with wheels attached they do pretty much everything for you and are absolutely soul-less.
The E30 is simple and full of character. Much more a drivers car IMO. Just my 2p.

Ive had a 328i sport and a normal 328i coupe, both very good cars in different ways. The sport had brilliant handling and all important lsd which you will need.
The normal 328i felt faster as the engine had done 32k compared to the 156k on the sport, but it was lethal in the wet without the lsd

I am also a mechanic, and agree with the drivers car thing, but the novelty wears off when your in traffic or doing a long journey and the playstations are nicer to use imo.Eddie25 wrote:I beg to differ. Agreed the 325 is a heavy lump at slow speeds. But the Rover dealership I worked at was taken over by Toyota. Fantastic cars but incredibly dull. I would rather have a dead leg than be bored to tears by an Avenis mile after mile.SUMPCRACKER wrote:I am also a mechanic, and agree with the drivers car thing, but the novelty wears off when your in traffic or doing a long journey and the playstations are nicer to use imo.Eddie25 wrote:I beg to differ. Sometimes i wouldnt say no to a e39 or 328 sport again, especialy the e39 just for the comfort and silent cabin on a long trip, but i cant let go of the e30 despite a constant bad back
its just a car you cant compare to nothing made these days for the feeling you get.

RATCH! Why don't you just go away and stop winding every f*cker up. You're a waste of space and have absolutely NO valid input to the zone.
Mods, Please lock it. He's obviously on a wind up.
