My diff doesn't make any noise under load or off load...

When turning at low speeds, the diff is quiet when turning at constant radius, but gives a groan when turning in/out at low speeds (i.e. parking).

Reading on the web, output bearings are a common failure on the BMW LSDs but these would groan/whine constantly. Another user describing same symptoms as mine resolved the problem with an oil change, as the last one has wrong grade oil.

Anyone know which is most likely the case?

If the latter, how can I completely flush the existing oil out to replace it?
...or is it?

Changing the oil in mine got rid of no end of funny noises! Worth a shot for the price of some oil :). If you take the rear cover off you will get the remaining oil out - I discovered this the hard way when I changed the diff bush! :o:

Or you could cut 56.5mm off it.....! winkeye
