I did do a search to see if a thread like this had been done before but I couldnt find any so here we go. Post up the cheapest or the highest insurance quotes you have ever got. As well as the car and your age.

Me:

Lowest - BMW 316 1.8 TPFT - £722 :o
Highest - Fiesta 1.25 Si TPFT - £8878 :o

I'm just getting round to renewing on my daily drive 320i - quotes so far have ranged from under £200 to £2500. I'll be 27 by the time the renewal is due!

I quite fancy an MX-5 for a bit of summer fun to replace the e30 cabby - thought I'd get insurance quotes for both UK and grey import Eunos ones to see what the difference would be, confused.com came up with a lowest of c.£250 for a uk car, and over £600 for a eunos! So I think it'll be a UK one when the time comes.

Oh, and jibes about what an MX-5 would say about my sexuality are accepted as inevitable!

That was from someone like 'igo2' or something like that. It seems the 316 is quite cheap to insure generally even though its about 4 groups higher than my old fiesta. :D

I had a 323 when i was 19 and a 325 when i was 20, think it was about £400.
And a Renault 11 turbo when i was 17 cost £900.

The company i used when i was younger went bust, i wonder why?

I went back to college and couldn't afford to insure it anyways, but I suppose thats a good thing because its sitting on my drive reminding me of how much I hated it and how much I want an E30. Roll on university, my excuse for needing a car.

Well I have budgeted 2.5k. And considering insurance is about £750 I have about £1750 to spend on a car. However I don't think I will need that much.

When I saw that £750 quote I almost fell backwards and through the patio doors.

It was more than reasonable. Considering I have been looking at 1.2/1.4 hatchbacks and they were all between £1000-£1500. Never thought I could insure a E30 for less than any of the hatchbacks I was looking at. It was even cheaper than a 1 litre Ford Ka!

I'm 23, and pay just under £600 TPFT. If I wanted to drop in a 3.5 M30 it would would cost an extra £100. This is through a broker.

Oh, and all mods are declared :D

E30's do start at Insurance group 12, so they won't be cheapy cheapy.

However as soon as you get a bit older or have a few years NCB, Insurance companies believe you are less of a risk and you can pretty much do what you like.

I've advised of each and every modification I've done, and every time they say "Thank you for updating us, there are no changes to premium nor conditions."

Renewal makes me smile when they read out the list of mods one by one and ask if they are still attached.

HIDs - Non standard Alloys - ICE.... Twin-turbo M70 conversion.. No wait that's not correct is it :(

Mines £500 fully comp on a 325i touring. 22 & 1 years ncb and no mods.

I want to change companies so I can get it lowered as direct line wont do mods until 25.

Funnily enough if i do the same quote on line with the same car, insurer, address and ncb its £900

I had the no mods until 25 problem with direct line.....it was cheaper to go with another company with the car modified than it was to go with direct line standard.
