a couple of thousand pounds for a reliable set up.i could be wrong but a figure of around £3000 from atech for a drive in conversion springs to mind.

thing about doing a turbo car it's all money the internal's have to be done all the modified parts
then setting it up with new ecu cost's £1000 on its own other wise it would blow up in a month

Best bit of cash you could spend is on an nice 6 branch manifold. You'll get a good performance gain from that alone.

Some also swear by the super chips you can get via this sites links.

Other areas to help make the car feel alive is too make sure the car is serviced correctly and it's running clean.

Me,me,me I did it for around that price.
But your not stating how much you have to spend, maybe with a budget we could point you in the right direction, or you'll find ideas here but way out of your price range.

If you can do all the work yourself, you could put an M30 in there :)

M30 as above, but you would have to do all the work yourself, and believe me it's the easiest conversion to do.
Everything fits like a glove.

Just need to open up your ECU and follow the instruction with the chip.

It's by far the eaisest way of getting a bit of omph for the car.

but again I would asdvise you getting it serviced 1st of all. you will b epleasanlty suprized how much better they go once given a bit of TLC.

I'm not the best to ask about mechincal stuff hehehe

Just make sure that you still have the orginal air box , try putting a pannel filter in ( pipecross or K&N ) as the orginal housing is the best you can get ( none of that cone filter shite you see on Vhuaxalls and Saxos ) Oil filter , spark plugs , if your doing the cam belt then I think a water pump may be a good idea. Also if the engine is a high milage car uses a semi synthetic oil or a full synthetic as it can harm your car ( Schuy told me that on the first ever meet I went too :D )

Also take a loot at the meets that are happening soon , you can meet loads of knowlegable people and learn a great deal at them :)

Also just remember another 2 mods worth lookign at...

z3 steering rack , this really puts a nice weight to the steering and just sharpens the front up

Short Shift linkage , makes the gears alot tighter and much more of a confident feel. for some reason all the e30's I have owned bar my Alpina have had suggy as fook gear selection

The best way to make it quicker is to fit a good quality set of springs/shocks/rollbars, service the brakes and buy good tyres (can recommend Dunlop SP9000 as excellent all rounders) on 15" BBS.

Sounds boring on paper but is a lot of fun to drive! If you still need more power then you'll have a decent chance of keeping it on the road once it is sorted out.

As above a good service a decent set of brakes and good rubber can make a world of difference speedtouch's chips are quite good for humble money, well recommended

bobbin1982: i hate to say it but from your other posts just recently i'm guessing your young? So anything like turbos and engine conversions are gonna stiff you on insurance. Not to mention its an Auto so whatever power your making is gonna be sapped a little anyway.

Why not give it a good service, sort out the crusty rear arches and any other bits of bodywork. Sort the brakes, then the suspension, and by that time you will have learned a lot and be in a better position all round to start thinking about M30's etc.

I know its the boring route but i'm sure you'd rather learn to drive it now its a little sensible before you slap a 200bhp anchor under the bonnet?

Good luck with whatever you decide, and get that cambelt changed ASAP if you dont know the history.

Cheers
Chris
