Is the bolt on top of the thermostat not doing it?

normally the bleed nipple on the thermo housing.. if no luck, maybe try loosening the rad hose to let air out that way...

It wouldn't have no effect on the engine starting.

I've heard jack the front of the car up a bit to help with the air lock and try bleeding then.

the air lock may be in the heater matrix, with the engine running undo the top heater hose and the ait will escape, when coolant is coming out of the pipe and the matrix put the pipe back on and tighten the clamp back up

when topping up with water, put heater control to hot and ignition on, top up and open bleed screw on thermo housing, when it comes out of bleed screw close finger tight.

top up some more, squeeze hoses until water sound stops in pipes( when you hear it , its the air in the water)

start car, put heater blower on pos 2, and blow on screen(ie. defrost ) so you can tell when there is hot water in the matrix.

look in the header tank to see if water is coming out of the return. loosen the bleed screw and should see water come out. tighten finger tight. top if needed,

run till warm keep doing the checks as above ( check heat on the screen)
if there wern't people like me,
with cars like mine,
who would you put down to make yourself feel better?
