how do you resolve this,
i've heard it's done by replacing the afm?
would any thing else need to be changed.

not as such dave,i've read an add that say's the car is auto and is on limp mode?
i'm sure keiths had this prob when he first bought it and changed the afm.
that fixed it.

limp home is a feature on auto gearboxes, nothing to do with the airflow meter

im pretty sure it would be something for your friendly local dealer to do, tho i would like to think it could be cured by removing the negative of the battery for a while!

There's no 'limp mode' associated with any E30 engine ECU!

the e46 i'm thinking of buying for the engine as an e30 replacement,
has this problem.would a replacement ecu fix it?

If it's an E46 motor, then the ECU will be able to tell you why it's in limp mode. Needs a code reader connected to it!
