i really want to go and pick up my mates written off m3 that has been stored in his garage for 2+ yrs,
finally got into his head that it is just going to stay there as is, so hence offered it to me, (AFTR A HELL OF ALOT OF CONSTANT ABUSE FROM ME) although the car cant be fixed as the rear end of is smashed right in but all i want is the engine!
engine runs sweet, all complete, etc. its done 78k miles....

isit a straight swap into my 318is or any modifiaction needed?
would really like it in my motor!

plus would the lsd fit straight init as ive heard some are small case and some are medium cased m3 diffs!???
havent looked at this m3 as is crammed into a small garage with car parts everywhere!

now all i gotta do is swap my dads spare amg mercedes alloys for it witout my old man finding out!! winkeye

What model m3? e36?

I would have thought insurance would be rather expensive as you are quite young. Check that out first.

Demlotcrew has an S14 iS, the manifold is the biggest headache I think. Someone with more knowledge will be along soon. My 4 pot knowledge has a huge gap when it comes to MPower.

I'm guessing that's what it is... But swapping AMG alloys for it. Do they not know how much an S14 is worth? 8O

I swapped a small to medium diff on mine without problems. I think the first question I ever asked on this forum was about this very topic.

Tbh a written off M3 could be worth saving, rather than alternatives, their values are going up after all..

Clearly your mate doesn't know what he has if he is willing to swap some Merc scrap for it.. Can't be that good a mate either

the car will be mine this week if i can borrow my mates trailer!!! so anything apart from the diff, engine+box+loom and front bumper etc i will keep, the rest will be ebayed to try and buy my old man some mercedes rims again!

my mate knows what its worth mint, but just looks like a wreck and to him more trouble than its worth to fix it, so hence why im getin it for a set of alloys!!!! wooohooooo

WTF!!!

Here you are talking about an M3 engine when only a week or two ago you were saying how your chipped iS could pass E30 M3s on the outside of corners sideways

I'd agree with Dan to be honest, Should look into saving the M3 first.

wont the m3 be worth more then a 318is shell with a m3 engine even with a write off on the log book if registered.

Remember, when referring to an iS it's spelt POWAAAH.

I'm very confused as to what is possessing your mate to allow an M3 (scrapped or not) go for some AMG alloy wheels. Does he wanna swap the instrument cluster for a packet of biscuits and an old slipper? If so, I'm game :D

But surely it's worth saving the M3 rather than putting the engine in an iS, the M3 is always going to be worth more.

Unless you pour money into an S14, they aren't really amazingly quick...

Half the advantage of an S14 is the car it's in. It's the whole package that makes an M3 what it is.

If you want to win traffic light grand prix and all that rubbish, just drop in a M52 or S50.

Have you heard this S14 working as the engine could be as bad as the shell you are describing:(

Demlots S14 has over 240bhp IIRC, and his car is pretty damn special with all the Hartge and carbon goodies winkeye

Hi

Price up the cost of rebuilding a s14 to stock (3k), then the cost of more power (1k)

I have 3 s14 in bits and any engine that has not been used for 3 years risks internal corrosion. I saw this on one of the bores of a s14 i stripped from just sitting in the shed, also it will cost a few hundred just to adjust the lifters.

The swap is easy the only mod for rhd drive is to spread the manifold to drop the steering column through, i take you will swap the suspension and brakes also.

Frag your mates m3 get the cash and supercharge the m42.

i know what your saying, and i could make abit of dollar outa the m3 for the price of a few hundred quids worth of alloy wheels, and could pay for the supercharger etc. outa it!
but i dont know what to do.... might make a poll lol...

For the price of the S14 alone you could build up a nice 300bhp forced induction M42...
