Hey everyone, just a quick question for u guys out there. I was wondering what the best all round exhaust would be for my 318IS cabby. Decent sound, but not defining, and definitely gives a boost to performance. Also, what price range would I be looking at and whats available at there.??? winkeye

Not sure if scorpion do a 318iS exhaust as standard, maybe able to make one fit though.

I think supersprint make a good one. Heard it was discontinued but was the best one available. Someone on the zone pointed out somewhere that do them. IIRC i think if you speak to them directly they will make one on order, but that info came from a thread on here but i dont know if anyone actually went through with it. Look around on iS fansites and i think everyone rants and raves about the Supersprint. Sebring keeps going through my head, but i'm sure it is supersprint. I had a damn good gander into it when i was considering a 318iS engine swap. There isn't many exhausts for the iS.

At least you dont have to look into a manifold though, as the iS has pretty much the best possible design anyway

Let us know if you look into the supersprint one as i'm sure people would like to know if they are still made, how much and if they really are the best available.

Dont have the time to go look for the info myself as i'm having a quick zone session at work. But i'm sure theres plenty on it if you google "Supersprint E30 318is".

Good luck pal!

I have a Supersrint exhaust on my 325i. The quality is excellent: fit and finish is top notch and their products are a direct bolt-on replacement for OEM units. I've never heard a Scorpion system ~ not a common choice in Australia ~ so I can't comment on them.

No problem. If you actually go any further with it and speak to them, let people know as this is a common discussion. On a quick gander, the irish folk on a website where ranting about a powerflow one as well. No idea about that but the only bad i heard about it is that it gets a little bit loud with some revvs. People tend to knock down the Supersprint because of the cost of it... i dont see that tho.... 291.00 for a center and rear.... it'll cost me more than that for a scorpion for my 325i!!! let alone the shipping too!

Not much of a fan of them. A mate has one for a 316 as no-one else did an exhaust. Not bad tbh, nout wrong with it, but there's nicer available for a 318is.

Deep and mellow i'd say. I wouldn't call it raspy at all. Not really loud either. But everyone has different views. I have no idea what a Jetex exhuast would sound like on an iS though.

How about this one? Saw the thread the other day went 'ooooh!' saw the price, waent 'aaaaah'. I'm a cheap kinda guy, its not worth that money for me...

...but it may be to you!

http://retrorides.proboards86.com/index ... 107&page=1

What I've done with mine is: replaced the 2nd midbox with a straight pipe and fitted a different backbox. Tbh, its all you need! Sounds great, depending on what box you have. Lots of baffles and its farty. Heck, it sounded fartyish with a cherry bomb on the rear! BUT, with a straight pipe its got a MENTAL noise. Its also illegally loud, e.g. you can hear me from 1/2 mile away. Now I have picked up a 2nd hand (unused) peco backbox from a halfrauds employee for £15 which'll go on this weekend. It has virtually no baffles, so should be good! :D

As a warning - you could LITERALLY hear me 1/2 mile away, so make sure you have at least 1 box + backbox. Also, 4 pots are a lot louder than 6 pots, much higher note. I've a friend with a very similar exhaust, and mine is much louder.

I have a "Longlife" custom made stainless steel exhaust on my 318iS and it's really good. They've done away with the front box, just got a middle and back box with 2" tailpipe which means it's not too noisy at all. It made a pretty good difference to performance too.
