my driver side rear arch has a golf ball size hole in it
and there was like an arm that came from the rear axle up
to were the hole is what is this arm is it ok to just weld back to
the arch thanks for the help

Is this "arm" the damper? I assume this hole is inside the car not outside? A picture would help :)

Patch should be fine for this, just make sure it is seam welded otherwise it will fail MOT. I'm guessing it is the damper you are talking about with the "arm" - take this off before welding - it contains pressurised stuff - I have never heard of one being damaged by welding in the vicinity but for the sake of 2 bolts and 5 mins to remove it - I would!

Also take care with fuel tanks and lines as they run relatively close to this reigion - again a pic would help :)

Dont forget to disconnect the battery AND the ECU mate..best to be on the safe side :wink:
