Sadly this is where you show either ignorance in general or just a lack of knowledge - you choose which.
It's the remnants of a Sport Evo of which very few were made, and BMW are not making any more. It's a piece of junk for sure, but a piece of junk with value. A mint example is worth £20-25'000 and the values are only going one way.
I wouldn't be interested in it per se, but someone with a lot more talent than you could do something with it - either restore it back to standard after hunting down the correct parts, or build a superb track car.

But if you say it's junk, so be it. How many Sport Evos have you owned again? Remind me!
Do you bother to read my entire posts, or do you just highlight a particular phase you don't like and take a bash at whinging about it? I've not ONCE said that the shell has not go a monetary value (feel free to check), I have simplely said from a PERSONAL STAND POINT that an e30 M3 is one of those rare cars that are made up of more than the sum total of its parts, meaning from a PERSONAL STAND POINT that shell is worthless.

That's not to say that someone with "more talent than me" could not restore it, but again from a personal standpoint, I can't see why'd you want to, it's silly an old rusty carcass.

As for it being a Evo Sport? Completely irrelevant to this argument as what is stamped on the vin and logbook makes this car no less of a turd.

Congratulations for completely missing the point.

There is opinion and there is fact.

People only want to hear facts not someone spouting bollocks about how an M3 shell is worthless to them because they can't afford to rebuild one
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

Agreed, but you are being a spanner, again. I just flicked from that Clarkson thread, where I noticed you'd completely missed the point.

I wonder what the ratio of Shells Vs Engines is
I guess about 10:1

I have 3 engines and a full set of running gear
JBH's mate Gordon has a written e30 m3
Theo has an awsome collecion of parts
and none of use can find a decent shell.

The fact that there are shells negelect is going to wind a few peolpe up, but not as much as people who miss the point.

yep, a lot more engines than shells. infact, can you still buy blocks new?

there are / were lots of eople racing m3s, and i expect a lot of the bigger teams had lots of spare engines, and i expect a lot of people bought new engines to do a build on whilst being able to keep their car running with the engine it came with.

engines also tend not to rot away, and survive collisions rather better than the flimsy metal shell they're transported around in :D

saying that, it was still possible to buy m3 shells untill not that long ago, so i guess there are both more shells and engines than m3s
cheers,

harry

I guess the "numpty" that you both refer to is me, and that is completely cool. I know that some members on here might dislike me because of some of the things that I say, and as far as I'm concerned that is completely fine because I have always and will always write my honest opinion, I'm not going to sugar coat or hold my tongue on a subject just so that I don't don't rock the boat. As far as I'm concerned forums like this are about two things, sharing knowledge and sharing opinions, conflicting or not. If we all comented on this thread with the same "Aww, such a shame" mentality then this would have been a rather dull read. Variety is the spice of life, and all that.

Like it or loathe it, I will always speak my mind.
