hi guys, i wonder if anyone could help. most of the time when i go to start my motor nothing happens appart from what i would describe as a single tut from the engine when the key is put around all the way. dont know if this is an alarm problem as it is well fuct, or the starter motor.
can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Turn the ignition on as normal, but start the car by using a piece of wire to link pins 14 and 11 of the diagnostic socket under the bonnet.
This will determine whether it's a wiring fault or a starter fault.

Is your car still an auto? If it is it could possibly be a fault with the inhibter switch which prevents it starting in anything other than P or N.
