So i was driving along the other day in my '86 M535 and thought to myself how long it was since i had an issue i needed to post on here. 30 mins later, i pulled away from traffic lights and second gear was no longer there! There is no mechanical noise and all the other gears work fine, but your cant move the gear stick up from neutral to second. any ideas?
cheers

Shifter assembly? Rod/Linkage issue? There appears to be a failure to "communicate" between your shifter and your gearbox.

I'm probably wrong but it is worth a thought, especially when considering that the fix is much. much, much cheaper than a rebuild.

I would also check linkage first.
