hi all. not sure which section for this, so feel free to move it mods...

i got a mild chip form speedtouch for my e30 325 and feel i have to pass on a warning and advice...

i fitted it as instructed and it is easier than it seems going by the instructions. i let the car idle as instructed for 10 mins then turned off. turned back on and went for a drive...

as warned, it was quite lumpy at first but it soom smoothed out. i drove around for 15 mins under differening loads and in different gears, and parked up thinknng that the chip was a dissapointment.

however, after contacting Maurice and being told to give it time, i drove it to work (30 mins) to carry on the bedding in process. it started fine and was smooth from the off. towards the end of the journey i floored it and the improvement is very noticable! i am very happy with it.

just to be on the safe side, i left the ecu unplugged for 2 hours at work and let it idle again for 10 mins when i plugged it back in, turned off and then drove. i came home the long way (60 mins) and its fab.

the charcteristics of the drive have changed alot. more low down torque, slightly lower idle, increased rev limit and most of all, there is no kick at around 4k rpm like i used to get. simply put, you get the kick all the time!

so the advice and warning is, let the chip bed in properly, and when told to drive for an hour, DO SO!

cheers maurice.

Yes, chips are suitable for both types of engine. I had a Mild in my previous '88 325iSE with high comp 25 6E engine (no other mods) and it went very well, with an indicated 140 top and 0-60 in around 7 sec!

I got one of these mild chip as well, and I was in a panic for a while when I install it.

When I was running it in, every time I stop the car would stall so felt like a learner.

After an hour of driving around it settle down and everything ran sweet.

As for being economical well have seen it yet as I can't help putting my foot down.

This is a cool cheap mod which I would suggest everyone should be doing you won't regret it.
