The OS rear strorage area has a puddle in the bottom. No obvious signs of entry. What are the usual suspects please. Happens when standing so not likely to be coming in from below.

My guess would be the small seals/gaskets that are between the body and the boomerang shaped bits of trim on the sides of the car at the rear.
Leaves and all sorts of other crap collect behind these and the water can drip down through the seals.
I would get in the boot and get someone with a hose to spray water all around the rear end and you may find your leak.

Gaskets for the trim pieces behind the rear side windows, or rust in the arches.

Mine's the same. The ledge behind the rear speaker gets soaked at times. I did the gaskets on the "shark fins" and it made no difference.
Then I noticed when it's been raining or I've washed the car there's water trapped between the quarter-light glass and the body seal on the inside, running down from top to bottom. It collects in the channel at the bottom of the seal and runs into the car at the corners of the seal.
I can't see where it's getting in and I can't be bothered to drop the headlining at the moment because I'm scared of what I may find (rotten sunroof tray??). I may be being over-pessimistic, but I can't think of any other way that water would get into the car at the point it appears to be.

This is why I no longer drive an E30......
I've just changed the rubber gaskets which seal the plastic vents (hidden behind the bumper on each side just behind the rear wheels) as both were split and were allowing a surprising ammount of water into my touring. This finally sorted the problem! although I suspect some of the other parts changed (light seals/ boomerang gaskets and grommets & tailgate rubber) needed doing anyway! so no real loss!
The only expensive part was the tailgate rubber andto be honest its least likely and should probably be last on the list.
