hi guys, i picked up a bilstein damper kit and -40mm springs for my '93 1.6 touring yesterday and started fitting it up. the kit came from a 318 2dr. the rears went on fine but the front insert diameters were bigger on the original parts than the replacement parts.... quite noticeable larger!
what size strut inserts are there?? and what vehicles are the different sizes typical to?????
cheers.

All the Tourings use 51mm diameter legs. IIRC, the only saloons that came with 51mm's were 318iS's, 325i's and M3's - all other E30's had 45mm.

the rear springs went in fine and the car sits lovely...... whats the difference between the saloon springs and the touring springs?? if it just weight differences i think i will leave them as it sits nicely but if they wont fit properly as they'r a differnt shape or something i will remove them and get some touring springs.
thanks for your help so far!!

Whenyou drive your touring with saloon lowering springs at the back end you will discover that your headlights are only usefull for spotting low flying helicoptors...the extra body weight of thr touring(and cabbie I understand) means that they use a different spring.
