hi all,
i'm considering new suspension all round on my 318is and i want to keep it totally standard and replace with an mtech system or something similar with the same ride heights.

i was looking on the GSF site and they do an mtech replacement....has anyone go experience with them, are they a good like for like?

any advice appreicated.

cheers

IIRC the GSF dampers are BOGE gas ones, not sure about the springs that they use though.

I thought the 318is had a 20mm drop, the springs on GSF are either for 4-cyl or 6-cyl cars with no distinction between normal 318 and the 's' model?

i had this problem with motormec, they had the same springs listed for most models (!!). To be certain of originality, it seems that the main stealer is the only way to go. In the end i just changed the shocks and top mounts at the rear, the difference / improvement was vast.

Anybody have any experience with the Quailty of the front top mounts from GSF?

I want eccentric ones but they are well over a 100 euro a side from the stealers :(

I used these. I ordered new shocks at the same time.

I think the only place you will get original MTEC springs is at the BMW dealers. Boge gas dampers for the MTEC suspension are available from the likes of ECP and GSF.

When I rebuilt my suspension a few months back I used M-tec dampers from GSF.Also fitted their front top mounts.M-tec springs came from BMW via zimmer,as did the E46 cabbie rear top mounts.I have had no quality issues with GSF components.

AVO do a 20mm drop. I'm very pleased with them. Defiantly lower than the M-Techs at the front tho. Under £100

Oh yes it is (at the front). My trolley jack would go under my Sport. Not on this car.

Maybe, but as I said, it's lower at the front. The car came with H&R 60/40 springs, which I didn't like much. I took a photo of the H&R 60mm I took off against the new AVO 20mm I put on. They look the same hight, although the AVO's are stiffer, so that car sits a bit higher.
