A bad E30 day for me. :(
Moderator: martauto
Had a good day at work, finished at half past one for the drive home.
Going up the A1, I see an E30 in my mirror and flashing at me. Which made my day.
But then it goes a little down hill from there.
Stuck in traffic for about 2 hours. Car starts to overheat. And also noticed my steering was a bit heavy and the air con wasn't working.
Into the services, filled the coolant system up with water and bled it. Then I noticed the fan wasn't going round, had a look. My power steering pump belt has snapped taking the air con belt with it. Leaving me stuck in traffic sweating my tits off with heavy steering. So that's a job for the weekend.
Also coming along a country lane there is some debri on the road taking out my front splitter, which is now smashed into pieces. Which I was very unhappy about.
On the plus side I start a new job at a BMW specialist on Monday.
Jamie.

Come on Jamie, an enterprising young man such as yourself should have taken those pairs of tights form the glovebox and whipped up an emergency belt. Air con, you mean that old snotters got A/C in it?!
Good luck with the new job

a bad E30 day? really? that sounds like a decent E30 day for me!
i thought you were going to say you'd crashed it!!!!!
oh, why was your fan not going round? surely that was on your only remaining belt?! if that had failed, you would have had no water pump! that then would have been a bad E30 day

Max, how many young lads would have realised what the heating problem was, let alone have the knowledge
to pull in and sort it out?. Well done, and i mean that in a completeley non patronising way.

Formal education will make you a living. Self education will make you a fortune.
Find a job you like and you will never have to work a day in your life!

Thanks.
The BMW place is in London, nowhere around here.
Yes, the turdos has got A/C, and it did work well.
The fan belt once did snap... my dad drove about 50 miles in the red. And the engine is still good
Although the car is still over heating, looks like I'll be having a look tomorrow to see the problem

just before my cooling system failed dramatically and expensively -to the tune of half a grand in spare parts and labour- i was overtaken at the same time on a lovely sunny day by two black 325's, i remember thinking 'wow two black e30's driving through lowestoft'.
Looking back on it i realise they were the harbingers of death

It's god's way of punishing you for keeping that bloody exhaust
. Anyway, you are a bit of a girl for not being able to survive the scorching heat of the British summer without AC, or did your window motors go too?
Good luck with the job. Is it a straight up Job, or an Apprenticeship?

Obviously you have never sat in traffic in a black car with the heaters on fully hot at 30.0c before.
And just a normal job, but I will go back to college in September for the qualifications and still have this job.

Overheating is sorted.
After completely losing interest in the car this morning, after a quick blast down a country lane. I'm in love again.
I also see what people mean about the feel of the steering with no power steering.
