no power at fuel pump

hi there, i took my e30 of the road to do some work to it and had started it a few times went to it on thursday and it turned an fired up but cut out straight away, i checked and changed relays fuses after discovering no power at the pump still not a kick. one big fat wire from the battery to my pump and it revs but im not keen on the fat wire trick, any ides also my idle speed control valve is the L shape an not the T and its buzzin like mad but still goes ok, i have cleaned it an gave it a few chaps an it still does it i have another an that one buzzes to are they both knackered. cheers guys.

has no one had this problem, i heard the crank censor sends a pulse, is this true.

ICV should buzz. Perfectly normal.
Fuel pump is only fed power by the fuel pump relay when the ECU sees pulses from the crank position sensor, so you need to have the engine turning before checking for power.
Pull out the fuel pump relay, and link together pins 30 and 87 of its socket with a short piece of wire. Does this make the fuel pump run?
If it doesn't, then check out fuse 11.
If it does, then most likely either the relay is faulty, the ECU isn't getting powered, or the crank position sensor is faulty. All three of these will also result in no sparks at the plugs as well.
