My fuel pump died last week so I replaced it with one from a scrap E30.
I noticed tonight that you can hear the pump running and every 10s or so it seems to miss a bit. I'm wondering if this one might die too! Maybe I should carry a spare?

Swap the fuel pump relay with the horn relay, and see if that cures it first.

Can you ID the location of the relays?
I've got about 5 identical relays in the fuse box, plus two other relays under the plastic cover on the bulkhead.

My local GSF have a new pump in stock, so I might buy that and carry it round as a spare. I'm off to France see and don't want any dramas.

K2 in the fusebox is the horn relay, and the pump relay is the orange one behind the cover.
I spent 2 1/2 weeks / 2000 miles in France a couple of years ago with a dud fuel pump! Good fun. We eventually got it down to less than half a minute to get the kids out, rear seat up, pump thumped back into life, engine started, seat back in, kids back in, and on our way.

Well, the scrappy pump is still running fine after 1700 miles. I've also got a new pump in the car for the day it expires. It's not a complete unit - it's the pump part, some flexi pipe, jubilee clips and crimps. Genuine Bosch repair kit.
