5-40 is ok but a decent 10-40 semi for fully synthetic is best.
Oil depends on how you drive the car, i use fully as it protects the best high oil temps as in long runs on the m-way, track etc. but magnatec is fine if you just plod about and have the odd blast

Yup, I use 10-40 in mine. And typically whatever oils going (preferably part to full synth) as it leaks back out again and I just top it up regularly (running and engine on almost continuously clean oil must be good for it!

10-40 here.
I can't see much point in using ultra expensive race oil in a road car as long as you do regular changes. Fuchs PRO and all that stuff is great for what it does, but I'd rather change my oil twice as often and put a new filter on at the same time. As long as you're not keeping oil in beyond its effective life, I can't see any harm in it.
If you're doing trackdays or Ring trips then fair enough, you'll need something that lasts longer because the oil will breakdown that much faster under the abuse.

The joys of working for them for a year.Simon13 wrote:Davetouring alert?! all the civic guys use this in their V-tec's!Jon_Bmw wrote:Its all about Vauxhall Trade club 10w40 semi
I was fairly disgusted at having to pay £62 for 4, 5 litre tubs of 5w30 fully synthetic.
Thats what i use in every car i have owned except the zetec, i get the 10/40 semi GM/shell for £10 for a 5L tub and the E30 loves it, dosen't burn a drop (preferes to spit it out onto the exhaust via the sump gasket, typical M20)Jon_Bmw wrote:Its all about Vauxhall Trade club 10w40 semi
