It's a larger case diff than the one you'll have at the moment so I think you'd have to swap the driveshafts too (I stand to be corrected on that though...).

Also worth noting that it'll shave a bit off your acceleration. IIRC the iS open diff has a ratio of 4.1 as standard whereas the sport ratios are 3.64 (prefacelift/tech1) and 3.91 (facelift/tech2).

An LSD was an option on the iS so from time to time they crop up second hand (small case, 4.1 ratio) but seeing as they're rare they command a higher price usually.

No, it will bolt straight in as it is, no swapping of driveshafts or output flanges.

I changed to a 3.91 lsd on my touring when it was a 318i (from a 4.27 diff), it was much better for cruising around and general everyday driving, but it did feel a little slower acceleration wise - not that it made much difference, it was an M40, so slow to begin with! :duck:

I doubt you would notice much of a difference going from 4.10 to 3.91, other than slightly lower revs when cruising at 60mph for example. A 3.64 would be quite a jump I would guess.

Yea, I agree. the 3.91 diff will be barely noticable compared the to standard 4.1.

That said, I have a 4.1 LSD (medium cased) that I might be persueded to part with....
