Here is the top 18 tracks from all the votes over the past few weeks. Thanks for all your input!

If I can get more than 18 on a CD, I will but 18 is the typical maximum number of tracks you can fit on a CD.

ACDC - Back In Black
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Motorhead - Ace of Spades
Metallica - Enter Sandman
Linkin Park - In The End
Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench
Arctic Monkeys - I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor
The Cardigans - My Favourite Game
Fleetwood Mac - The Chain
Rolling Stones - Paint it Black
Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper
Stone Roses - Fools Gold
Kasbian - Club Foot
808 State - Pacific State
New Order - Blue Monday
Baby D - Let Me Be Your Fantasy
Liquid - Sweet Harmony
Faithless - Insomnia

I've arranged the track sinto an order which will give the album a 'flow' of sorts.

I'm very pleased with the outcome, some real variety and the songs are either powerful upbeat songs or emotionally charged and fit the bill of driving songs. I don't dislike any of them.

There was some seriously good music outside of this selection that missed out because of one or two votes. It shows how just one person can make a difference with a project like this.

Once the name has been selected in the other thread, I'll launch the final part of the project, so don't do anything apart from starting to acquire the songs you may not have.

www.gomusic.ru is a very cheap legal site to have a look at. Any help with a couple of the tougher tunes, Liquid - Sweet Harmony will be a hard find, would be gratefully received.

Thanks again and watch this space for the final chapter in the E30zone Soundtrack project!!

Just as a thought Nathan, you could burn a cd with ALL the tracks in MP3 format...

Or does that defeat the object of the vote somewhat?

Yeah probably, if you wanted to source all the music.

Doesn't affect this project at all for reasons that will become apparent in the next week or so.

There was a lot of stuff I would have preferred to be in the list too. Though I am looking forward to listening to the songs I'm not familiar with and understanding why other people like to drive to them.

I recommend that they are listened to as a collective, with what they're trying to achieve in mind. Put into the correct context, most hopefully should like them all. I don't think any song on there is offensive.

Try to find something about all the songs to like. I think most of them are fairly relative to one and other, there is a link there.

ie, you like the motorhead tune, the Black Sabbath tune has a similar style, the tempo, a strong guitar riff and wailing vocals. The ACDC tune has the strong riff, vocals but is slower, which leads into Metallica, an edgier hard rock/metal tune.

Stone Roses have a massive influence on Kasabian. The Roses showed that fusing hip hop beats with indie music works. Kasabian add electra sounds which are more commonly found in dance music, so links into Baby D. 808 State is proper roots dance, and Liquid is very much a forerunner to Baby D, from a similar era. Note the similar drum loops between Roses and Liquid.

The atmospheric vocals on the Roses tune can draw parallels with the Fleetwood Mac song, give it a harder edge, get Rolling Stones, which has the riff that ties it losely into the Arctic Monkeys and full circle into the early rock stuff.

There was some stuff on that list I was dreading appearing, but most of it didn't get voted for or had singular votes.

The result, which was something I expected, is fairly central, nothing too on the edge or requires a specialist taste.

I'm quite excited about the finished product and I'm sure it'll mean these 'new-to-me' songs will get sentimental value and an appreciation from that.

I burned all these tracks onto a disc, and as it was coming in at 73:51, I stuck "The Stranglers - No More Heroes" on the end - quality! winkeye

nice list. i know and love almost all the songs on there and there's many that i voted for :)

can i make on request. when you assemble the cd pls. make it from non-mp3, lossless files. Even 320kbps mp3 breaks down quite badly with "busy" music. Makes little difference in most car systems but on the home stereo it can be quite bad :-/

thanks for the work you're putting in to this. I'll buy one for sure. Maybe get one for the gf too. I presume the proceeds go to the zone?

That's the beauty of it. Once completed, the idea is you'll source the songs yourself, so if lossless music is you thing, no worries.

It's the only way to get around copywrite laws, for everyone to acquire the songs themselves and burn their own cd's.

The zone will provide tracklistings as well as cd and sleeve art.

73 mins total play time is pretty cool.

I was in Amsterdam around voting deadline but glad to see some great tunes got through including Enter Sandman and Paint it Black - didn't get my guns n roses vote on, but non-issue really :)

I've been listening to some live recordings of Jimi Hendrix... there's one track, forget which now, which makes you want to cruise as if you're driving across America... awesome stuff...
